ACE HARDWOOD FLOORING INC

About us

Like most trees that sustain the hardwood flooring industry, the seed for Ace Hardwood Flooring was planted in Austin, TX after Mark Szeneri relocated from California in 1977. In 1985, a nurturing mix of craftsmanship, integrity, value, and faith saw two new branches sprout from Ace Hardwood’s continual growth: our milling warehouse and, most prominently, The Mesquite Collection. The same business ethics and values that have rooted our company's foundation have also attracted skilled craftsmen who have found comfort and have remained happily under our shaded canopy for upwards of 30 years; our oldest employee boasting 38 years! To date, these craftsmen in carpentry, flooring and stair installation, and floor finishing continue to nourish our growth by providing and installing millions of square feet of flooring worldwide. We manufacture, install, sand, and finish lumber, flooring, stairways, end-grain blocks, ceilings, backsplashes, and countertops all with top-quality wood.

When our general contractor told us he would not be able to match our existing hardwoods we went over to Ace and they came out the same day and were able to tell us that they could match the floors.  They did an incredible job - they were fast and did beautiful work.  I would use them again and have recommended them to other people in our neighborhood.

Ace was hired by my contractor after a leak from the kitchen sink ruined part of the hardwood floors. Mark, the owner came late and was very rude when he did finally arrive. Later he told my contractor it was because he had a bad day. The installation was okay, but the rather than cut the boards to fit the space as closely together as they could, he put a lot of wood putty in the spaces where the boards weren't flush together. I know a little putty is to be expected but this was between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick. The contractor came and agreed with me and had them take those boards out and redo it. This time the installer left the nails showing all over the top of the floors. We have to have a faux finisher come and paint over the nails to make it look right. Most unprofessional company I have ever worked with.

The same finisher from 1994 worked on our floors in 2013 and all did a wonderful job on the mesquite flooring that we chose.

Mark, the owner, installed hardwood floors in my previous home. He did a very good job in every respect. Since then I moved to a different house and needed wood floors installed. He came out, measured, listened to what I wanted, and then explained what he thought would work best for me. He promptly submitted a bid for my plan and his (which was slightly more expensive). I ended up changing my mind and going with his plan, and I am so glad I did. The floors came out beautiful.
His workers came every day and worked diligently. They were very skilled and considerate. They were very detail-oriented. I am a picky person, but when they were finished I had not a single thing to complain about. They were good about cleaning up the dust and leaving the rooms neat when they left every day. They took a lot of pride in their work.
I would recommend Ace to my friends and family and I would definitely use them again.

Poorly, they did not show up when they were needed. They did not do acceptable work. They left large gaps between newly installed floors and existing flooring material. They left glue all over the bamboo. They did a third rate job of refinishing. They were pushy, arrogant, and not competent. They demanded that they be able to finish all of the oak at one time. We bent over backward to accommodate them and then they did not do it. They did an uneven job of staining, even on the new flooring that they installed. They said they would buff out the finish on the floors, they did not. They said they would use dust reducing equipment on the job. They did not. When they were in charge of job site security, doors were left unlocked. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THEM!!
