Abacus Don't use Abacus! I don't know if it's the entire company or just the service technician who is the scam artist, but he tried to scam my 92 yr. old mother out of $1,000 for an unnecessary repair. The handle on her toilet would not pop back up after flushing unless it was manually lifted and if you didn't, the tank wouldn't fill back up and would continuously "run". Abacus' technician said that the apparatus, which I now know was the flush valve and the ballcock were bad and he had no idea where to get the parts, because he couldn't tell who manufacturered the toilet, and they probably didn't even make the parts anymore and etc, etc, etc... and that the toilet needed to be replaced. This sounded strange because the toilet wasn't that old. But he gave my mother an estimate of between $800 and $1,000, depending on whether the toilet had a round seat or an oval shaped seat. He also showed us pictures on his cell phone of what was supposed to be the inside of her toilet tank, and said that there were two large cracks in it. He left to get the toilet, but then called and said that it wouldn't be available for a day or two. When I went into the bathroom, I saw that he had left the top off of the tank. Low and behold! I could see that right there inside the tank, were the model numbers for the two parts and the telephone number of the manufacturer printed in large black letters. Well, well, well. I called the number and it was Ferguson's Plumbing Supply and they actually have a location about 10 minutes away from my mom's home. And guess what? They had the replacement parts in stock! Also, I realized that the picture the technician showed me of the cracks in the tank had a piece of red plastic on the flush valve. The plastic on my mother's is actually blue! I called Abacus and canceled the order. I also asked for a supervisor to call me. That never happened. My mother called Johnny Rooter and the technician replaced the flush valve and ballcock for a total of $230. The toilet didn't need to be replaced and there were no cracks in the tank. Abacus' technician walked into my mother's home and saw two old black women and thought it appropriate to cheat her out a $1,000. I checked for Abacus complaints filed with the BBB. Obviously, preying on the elderly seems to be a common business practice. We're waiting to see if they have the nerve to send us a bill for their fraudulent diagnostic visit. But we've already seen the nerve and audacity this company has. People, don't let your elderly parents contact Abacus for ANY type of service.

Very poor customer service. I booked an appointment for a Saturday appointment. Appointment was confirmed with a standard appointment. On the Friday morning before the appointment I was informed that they had availability that day and would I like an earlier appointment. I accepted. No show from the plumber. Then on Saturday morning I received an email informing me that my Saturday appointment was now an out of hours appointment and would be subject to a $650 call out fee! No mention of out of hours appointments and no mention of any exorbitant fees up to this point.

They were fast efficient and communicated a lot.

They called immediately, and got the job done quickly after arriving. Technician was friendly and knowledgeable. The only issue was that the work was pricey, more than what I was quoted by other contractors.

Replaced/fixed a miswired 3-way switch with a Lutron Caseta switch (I provided) and rewired a fluorescent fixture, removing the ballast and direct wiring the circuit. Kinda felt like I was being upsold.

Fixed the problem right away.

The technician figured out right away what the problem was and fixed it immediately. He was knowledgeable, efficient and personable.

They were out within an hour of my call. Professional, personable throughout.

They were super professional, I felt like I got very quality work and didn't get price gauged for it. They explained each and every thing prior to doing anything and I appreciated that. The electrical job they performed was across three rooms where the prior (to us owning the house) electrician had done a lot of things illegally.

They always do a thorough job of cleaning, testing and making repairs. They explain in detail of what needs to be done, prepares a detailed estimate and completes the job. They almost always have someone who can come out the same day.

I asked for a formal quote on a replacement water heater, rather than get rushed into scheduling. When I read the added items in the contract, I did not want to engage them at all.

They were very nice and accommodating. In addition they were very expensive. I got the job done for more than a thousand dollars less than what they were asking. I wasn't sure if they are selling plumbing services or insurance. They claim that they are selling "peace of mind". That's called insurance.

My Customer indicated it went well. My company installed a site finished floor and the outlet covers required expert installation. The customer is very satisfied as am I. I would recommend their services to anyone.

The plumbers were very courteous and respectful and the service was performed very well and accurate. They fixed our pipes and we were satisfied with their work. We will gladly hire them again.
