Very well, quick. Punctual. There was a scrub-tree growing into and damaging the fence. He could not fix the fence there without removing it. It would cost another trip for him to come back after someone else[or us] removed it for maybe less money and remove the clippings. So he removed it but the cost was high and he did not take it away.

Great - I purchased two hours of general handyman services for $79. I paid the $79 even tho from the time he arrived until he left was 2 1/2 hours including going for parts. Kevin who was the gentleman they sent was very polite and did a great job and explained everything that needed to be done at that time and other recommended work in the future. The parts - $25 - seemed a little high but it was still easier and better than having to go and buy everything myself. Would definitely use them again.

Dec 20, 2015 This is an update on services provided by A-Plus Energy and Home Solutions. After reading my previous review, A-Plus called to find out why I was not happy with their yard service earlier in the year. I was impressed by this show of responsibility and decided to try their services again. This time, for the same price, they spent the agreed-on amount of time, did what I asked them to and were very pleasant to work with. All said, I like a company that cares about what each customer thinks and is willing to make the effort to improve and better manage their crew.
Description of Work: Bought Big Deal for 8 hrs yardwork. Was very happy with A-Plus handyman service previously but very disappointed this time.

Scheduling was extremely easy and the crew that arrived to do the work was efficient and professional. They not only did the work requested in less than the time we thought it would take, but they helped us understand the various detection systems we have in our home. Rooms were completely remodeled from floor to ceiling. Kitchen ceiling was raised. All existing drywall was removed. New drywall was textured and painted. Attic was reinsulated above kitchen and dining room. New cabinets were installed. Floor and backsplash were installed with porcelain tile. New sink, garbage disposal, and quartz countertop was installed. Ceiling and under counter lighting was added. Pantry door and all wood molding was replaced. All plumbing and electrical work was included. Cabinets, tile, sink, and countertops were purchased separately from contract but for the amount of materials, time, and effort involved in the remodel, I'm very satisfied with the cost and result. Eric is very skilled, knowledgeable, helpful with many of my decisions with color and design. I would definitely use him in any future projects.

Using Angie's List deal for a room consultation we received a bid and renderings for a kitchen renovation. The designed was timely and came up with a few good suggestions on how to maximize the space. He was very personable(even with a crying baby and a dog around). We received a quote and renderings within a week. We are currently looking into a few other quotes before deciding on who we plan on using for the remodel.

Overall, this 40 hour engagement took about 3 weeks to complete. The contractor was quite good about making sure everything they said they could do got done, but I had to call them a few times to make sure appointments got scheduled. In the end, they were pretty close to their 40 hour estimate and did good quality work.

I wasn't totally pleased with their service. They really did a so-so job with the inspection. They wanted to upsell having the fence painted and all that. That's fine, but I got a second quote that was like 2/3 less than their quote. They weren't horrible. After they did the inspection, I kept calling them them to get the report. It took them days to get back to me, but then once I decided not to buy the bigger package, they were calling me all the time. I wouldn't give them a horrible rating.

They came out and looked at my kitchen, gave me some advice and provided me with an estimate, but I never got a design plan or anything concrete about what they would do for the money they quoted, which I assumed was the service I bought through the Big Deal. I ended up paying for just the estimate, in my opinion. I contacted them and asked them why I never got a plan and I've heard nothing back.

Josh came right on time and gave an estimate, and we scheduled the work. I removed fragile items and portable items before the start of work. I provided additional plastic to tape off some shelving, and Josh helped attach that. The popcorn ceiling was removed from the two rooms the first day, and it was my understanding the worker would arrive between 10:30 and 11:00 the next day. However, on the second day the worker did not arrive until 1:00 and Katy did not return my 11:00 am call to let me know what was going on. The worker explained that he'd been called to a different job that morning, and I wish A+ had called to tell me that in the morning so I wouldn't have expected him until then. The second day the worker textured one room and said he would return the next day to texture the second room and paint the first, provided the textured ceiling was dry enough. He returned the next morning and textured the second room and then asked where the ceiling paint was. Since Josh had included provision of ceiling paint in the estimate, I didn't have any, and the worker went to Home Depot to purchase some. When he returned, he advised the texture in the first room was still too wet to paint, and he said he'd return Monday morning to paint both rooms. He completed the work Monday with reasonable clean up performed, but because the plastic sheeting he had put down failed to prevent debris and dust from falling down the back of a bookcase and onto some other furniture around the room, additional clean up by the homeowner will be required, but I expected that. My suggestion for a better homeowner experience is that A+ call the homeowner when the time table changes. For example, I would have liked to know that the worker was not going to show until afternoon rather than wait at home all morning wondering what was going on. This was a job that required several stages of work, and close contact with the homeowner would be appreciated to give a heads up about any delays. Nonetheless, the job was well done, and I'm pleased with the work that was performed.

Adding to my previous review, I paid for 40 hours of painting and got 21 hours. When painter came in with a sprayer instead of rollers/brush, I knew I didn't want him there long. He mostly did a good job. I have a few lines to fix where he put up plastic walls to keep the painting mess contained (at my request). He tried to fix them once. They are better but still not right. After 21 hours, he left with the agreement that he would return to do the garage door and paint all areas around it (to complete the look of the front of house). He estimated it would take 3-4 hours. Please note that these deals are not good for the people doing the work. I know that, so I cut him a break. Now, he won't return and wants more money to do the work. I'll just do it myself. I do not recommend getting painting done through this place. I also agreed to not tell owner about the incomplete hours, but since our agreement was broken, I will this week.

I found this company which has A rating on Angie's list and they are the first one to respond. However, that is only good thing came out of it. I was deathly afraid of being ripped off. I should've not relied just on Angie's list ( most of comments on Angie's list are about their other handyman service) but read more comments on Yelp before calling them. Now I found out there are at least two people on yelp complaining about their pricing tactic. One complained about being charged 4 times more than other AC companies would have! The other complained about installing a thermostat that required drilling one hole and hooking up the wires was $200! My AC was blowing warm air not cold air. The technician seemed to think it's capacitor issue as he focused on the capacitor right after he arrived. It took him less than 10 minutes as he opened the case, took out the wire then hooked the old capacitor to his tool and declared it dead. He then said he will replace the broken one with two new capacitors. He said they would last longer! He charged me: 1/ One AmRad 80 mfd USA2229 for $208, 2/ One AmRad 5 mfd for $113. That is a total $321 for two parts. 3/ Diagnosis charge for $74. Final Total is $395. I found out that competitors would charge $165 for part and labor total to replace just one capacitor for the old one and would wave or reduce the diagnostic charge. Quick price checks on those parts shows that they cost about $100 or less for both new capacitors. I understand that they have to mark up their prices because they carry them on their truck but I expect they are reasonably priced. I was charged a total of $395 for capacitors replacement that took less than 30 minute. I was overcharged a lot, near triple what I would've been charged by competitors. Another yelp user said the he was charged 4 times more than other AC companies would have. $286.00 for a dual capacitor repair! Mine is even higher than that. The tech didn't give me choices or inform me about pricing difference between using one capacitor or two capacitors. The small one which is totally unnecessary cost less than $30 but they charged $113. I did call David from customer service and he said the tech should've given me a discount for using both capacitors then he said he would refund $29 for the bigger one but not the small one. Then I requested to talk to the boss named Gregg and he said that his prices are right, the tech did an extra step of "programming" the thermostat, justify that their service is like shopping at Nordstrom vs.Macys and bragging about great service and warranty coverage, and they charged me according to their book..etc. Frankly, I don't feel like I shopped at Nordstrom because I could get the same service and parts from other competitors out there for much less. Nordstrom would offer great service by carrying high end stuffs and trying to make customers happy if they are not satisfy. That's why they can charge higher price than Macys. Macys is just fine to me because of their price and quality! The charges are excessive which is exceed a normal, usual, reasonable price when comparing to other top competitors which also have high rating on Angie's list or Yelp. They tried to rip me off for two capacitors instead of one, did not inform me about the price difference between using one or two, did not give me a choice about using one capacitor or two capacitors but just saying that they "will last longer"! The boss Gregg seems over confident about his price is right and bragging about providing great service and being long in the service (his company actually do more than just AC alone). I think great service combines everything such as quality, reasonable pricing, expertise, warranty...etc) I would not use them again or never recommend them to anyone! Clarification about the so called extra "programming" the thermostat: the tech replaced the capacitors and asked me to turn on the AC to see if it was fixed. The condenser fan kicked on and was running. I went back into my house getting the credit card to pay. I ran downstairs then met him at the entrance. He asked me why the fan was off or if I did anything with the AC? I said I didn't do anything. He then asked to look at the thermostat. He discovered that the there was nothing wrong, the AC and fan was turned off according to the setting temperature. The thermostat clock was flashing because I turned off the AC switch which located near the compressor when the problem occurred so it reset the clock. He then set the clock and I adjusted the day to a correct day of the week. The 4 period of (wake, leave, return and sleep) programming are still there and did not require any correction. The tech also quoted me for: -Replacing the 2pl contactor $125 -Cleaning the condenser $41

We would not still be in business after 37 years if we were a company who “ripped people off”. We were threatened by the customer that this report would be placed all over the internet if we didn’t refund the amount he demanded. We are a fair company and did not feel the refund was due. So here we are. We were called out to solve a “no cooling” call. Two other companies were called prior to us, but the other companies did not respond to the customer until after we had completed the service repair. We sent a senior technician who diagnosed the problem, explained the problem and the repair to the homeowner, and the homeowner approved it. The suggested repair was to replace his dual capacitor with 2 individual American made capacitors. The reason we do that is because we stock the individual capacitors on the service truck, and the customer doesn’t have to pay the technician time to leave the job to go to a parts warehouse and buy a specific dual capacitor. (Capacitors come in many combinations) This flexibility allows the customer to get the repair done right then, and the single capacitors typically last longer than the dual capacitors. We also include a 2 year part warranty where most companies give a 1 year warranty. The customer approved by signature, the repair and the cost prior to the repair being done. The technician fixed the unit, collected the amount due less an Angie’s List coupon. The customer again signed the invoice where it states the work was done to his satisfaction. The technician left with customer happy to have his unit up and working again. After the technician left, one of the other companies finally called back and told the customer that his price would have cost less. It’s easy to quote a lower price over the phone knowing exactly what to price (although the other company didn’t say if they carried that capacitor on their truck all the time, or if they would have to go to the parts warehouse to get it – which would be an additional charge) and they didn’t have to come out and diagnose the problem. After that, we got a phone call from the customer demanding a refund. We did investigate his concern, looked at the invoice and saw that we overcharged the customer by $29 because the technician wrote the price incorrectly. We quickly put a credit on the customer’s credit card. As always, being a member of BBB, we would welcome arbitration by a third party to judge whether we did right or wrong. We are a reputable company, and take good care of our customers. That is reflected by our A+ rating at BBB and the 8 years of Super Service Awards we have earned with Angie’s List. We treat our customers fairly and never recommend unnecessary repairs or do a repair without the customer’s approval first. We are not the most expensive, and may not be the cheapest either. However, we do offer prompt quality service at reasonable rates and give the best part warranty around.

I worked with a gentleman named Christopher, he and his team worked for about two and a half hours. The work ended up taking about half the time of the offer on the deal, so the company honored a rate they were offering for another deal for 2 hours of work. I was grateful they were willing to work with me on this, and they were very helpful and efficient.

I was very pleased with A-Plus on both occasions. The office staff at A-Plus are very good about communicating with customers. The cost of the work on both instances seemed very reasonable to me. The two men who came to my house arrived promptly, were very professional, did good work, and explained everything to my satisfaction. I'm also very happy that A-Plus is available to help customers on Sundays, if needed. I highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again for future repairs.
Description of Work: I had someone from A-Plus come out twice recently to make some repairs at my house. The first repairman inspected my air conditioning unit after I accidentally damaged its power cord, and he put a protective cover over the cord. The second repairman fixed a section of my fence that was rotten and falling down.
