512 Solar

I worked with 512 Solar to install a Level 2 EV Charger in my home. They provided an incredibly seamless and professional experience throughout the process! I went with them initially because they were the only company who could provide an upfront estimate (after receiving some basic home info, like photos of the breaker and install location) without having to schedule a consult or service call. Since this is becoming a more common job (the City offers a rebate for it), it felt like a no duh moment, and I’m so glad I did. Everything from the organization of the project to the actual install itself was so incredibly easy and well within a good price range. Everything was communicated extremely well and I never felt out of the loop about what was going on or what was needed from my end. If you’re looking to have an electric vehicle charger installed, definitely use their services! Thanks so much!

512 Solar installed our panels several years ago and we are still very happy with them. The company has consistently gone above and beyond. They even came in to do a checkup on the system.

When JP came out to look our system over, it was clear that he had the necessary expertise. He negotiated a price for the detach-and-reset operation with State Farm, which was paying for the reshingling. Our system's Enphase M210 micro-inverters had been failing at an unacceptable rate, and Enphase was no longer paying for the labor involved in replacing them, so we decided to take advantage of the insurance-paid reset to replace the M210s with M250s, which are reported to be more reliable. We found M250s at a better price than 512 Solar was quoting; that was fine with 512 Solar, who were still perfectly willing to perform the detach-and-reset operation, installing the new M250s at no extra charge. When detachment day arrived, 512 Solar showed up on time, and soon had the panels stacked in our garage and the rails tucked under the eaves to be out of the way of the roofers. When the reshingling was complete, 512 Solar came again, fitting our reset job in before we went out of town, and installed the rails, the new micro-inverters, and the panels. They made sure the system was performing, and took care of informing Enphase of the M210s' retirement. The only slight imperfection concerned timing of the reset operation. I was told that the 512 Solar crew would be arriving mid-morning, but they didn't actually show up until early afternoon. Had I known that, I would have spent my morning differently. That failing is extremely minor, actually worth about 0.1 letter grade. The continuing decline in solar PV prices has us interested in expanding our system. When we get around to it, the company we'll call with be 512 Solar.

I had done extensive research on solar power - technologies, best panels, best converters, and best installers. I was impressed with JP for 512 Solar and gave them a call. They were very responsive and set up a cost-free consultation during which JP made suggestions, showed me figures for output, costs and savings. 512 Solar then inspected my roof and discovered there were some problems with the original plan for the placement of panels due to the spacing of vent pipes. JP presented the maximum layout, and suggested different panels with higher output. From that point, the 512 Solar and Huiyun from their office handled everything, including dealing with Austin Energy and my HOA to make sure everything would go smoothly. The installation team was so professional, prompt and courteous that I felt completely comfortable with the job. Installation and inspection was completed ahead of time and I was online just before the 100 degree weather began in June. I can't recommend 512 Solar enough!

Fantastic company. I chose 512 Solar for their competitive price and thorough explanation of the process, system, and pricing. They were then excellent in all subsequent aspects: communication, installation ,inspection, professionalism, customer service. I recommend them highly. It may take time for the process to be complete if it's a peak season (late winter, early spring), but you'll always know where you stand in the queue. (Price listed is for 7 panels, before rebate and tax incentive.)

Short summary, 512 Solar did just great on the job! Unfortunately, the car didn't actually finally arrive until mid-May, so we didn't get to try it out until then. Sad that I couldn't file this review until now... However, it's been working just great; certainly no signs of issues. Their service was very responsive, they were very knowledgeable, and their prices were the best of the three services we contacted. One of them returned a considerably higher bid, and the other never provided a bid. I also like that they provided bids for three different options, e.g., keeping the dryer outlet live and doubling the capacity of the breaker box to provide a separate circuit for the chargers. I watched 512 Solar do the work, and it was done well. Now that the Prius Prime PHEV finally arrived, between this and the chargers at work and elsewhere, we have literally used no gas since we first charged the car at home! There are certainly no signs of issues with the installation (nor, just as an aside, the Clipper Creek LCS-30 charger itself, which appears to also have been a good choice). Thanks, 512 Solar for making my daily commute -- and my driving life! -- quieter, cleaner, and more responsive! Hopefully we can work together again sometime in the future to install some home solar as well.

Process went well. Important to get solar panels approved by HOA first.

I was totally satisfied with the services of 512 Solar from the immediate response for a quote through to the completed project. The owner, JP Novak, Huiyun Kim of the sales support team, and the two installers Steve and Will all had critical roles in the processing and completion of the work. Pedernales Electric Cooperative responded immediately after installation with an inspection and signed off the same day as JP's final quality check. Paperwork was handled by 512 Solar and I was impressed by the entire process.

My inverter (coverts DC to AC voltage) stopped working a few weeks ago. The company that installed my solar array no longer installs or services residential, but they put me in touch with 512 solar.  I called the cell number they gave me and was able to quickly arrange a service visit.  512 came out and diagnosed the problem in one visit and replaced the inverter a few days later.  I did not have to be at home for the service call and dealt with the service director, Charles Cohen, by phone and email.  He was very professional and everything went smoothly.  The total cost to me was $75, because the manufacturer supplied the parts and provided a $250 labor credit, which was almost enough to cover the $325 labor charge.  Charles had told me about this possibility upfront and the total out-of-pocket cost seemed reasonable, given their labor rate of $150 per hour.  
I was satisfied with the service and plan to use 512 Solar for further maintenance needs if they arise.

I learned about 512 Solar through friends at Green Mountain Energy. 512 had completed commercial installations for them. That gave me immediate confidence. My confidence was bolstered again when they showed up on time for each and every meeting. They took time to help me determine the size of the array our home would need. Their sales person was a former residential energy auditor so he was very knowledgeable. Additionally they helped us navigate city rebate programs and federal tax credit paperwork. Installers worked well with our builder and other trades. They followed up proactively post installation as well. And the founder himself, JP, came and walked the home with me. I feel very confident that if issues ever arise with our system that we will receive prompt and respectful attention.

JP and his company were extremely helpful in my solar process.  I talked to about 5 companies and had 3 come visit my house.  He was the only one that sized the plan appropriately for my house.  Some companies will max out the square footage of your roof without any concern for what you actually need to cancel out your energy bill or without concern for what will actually get a rebate. 
In order to get a rebate the panels have to meet certain specifications from Austin Energy.  Other companies approved of panels to be installed that wouldn't have qualified for the rebate.  They basically overdesign your home so as to get more money.  JP insisted that 12 panels was all that I needed while other companies tried to give me 15-16.  I've had my system for 4 months now and have a $20 credit towards my energy bills (that means I've paid nothing for four months and have $20 stored towards months where I don't generate as much as I use).  We'll see how it goes this summer but it looks like I'm building enough credits to make sure my summer bills are also zero balance.  If I generated more electricity it wouldn't really matter.  It's not like I ever get a check for my profits.  
They were also very professional in helping me get the software setup so I can view the panel production on my phone.  They also did my friend's house and we had the same experience.  Go with 512Solar.

I've worked with JP Novak for many years as my preferred solar installer professionally and personally. I couldn't speak more highly of him or his work. He's the most ethical man I've met in life and business and his finished work is exceptional. His level of personal customer service is unmatched in the solar installation industry and I should know as I have dealt with many installers over the years. You can not go wrong with him and you can trust that he's going to do it right. If there are any issues he makes them right.

Stevie and crew were professional, courteous and did a quality job. My electric bill is averaging $20/month over the last 12 months. Some months PEC owes me money.

We had and continue to have a great experience with 512 Solar. They were helpful with coming up with options and dealing with rebates, did a really nice job on our system installation, and are always prompt and professional. 512 Solar was careful to not over-design our system, which is important because extraneous production doesn't benefit the consumer.
The solar system installation included meetings to determine system size and price estimates, pulling permits, doing the installation, and even a few system check-ups and service calls. Each step in the process has been pretty painless, and 512 Solar has always met and exceeded my expectations.

512 Solar, 1250 S. Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX installed 30 panels in July 2015. After several months of searching and interviewing 5 different solar companies, I felt most comfortable with JP Novak, President of 512Solar.  I did not have to go through several telephone prompts or persons to talk to the salesman. Mr. Novak is your single point of contact throughtout the installation process. He answers his own emails and phone calls. His concierge style service was seamless. 
Besides a very competitive bid on my solar panels, the original order was for 30 Solarworld 275 watt Black Solar modules. Because these were no longer available, Mr. Novak  installed 280 watt modules at no additional charge. I was also pleased he gave me a senior citizen discount, no other company was offering this. The solars were installed in a timely manner.
Over the past 7 months, Mr. Novak has resolved the Austin Energy solar credit and also sent me a new cord/adaper promptly. When the tax season rolled around this year, an email came from Mr. Novak's office with an explanation of how to file for 30%  "Residentail Energy Credits." 
I can highly recommend him and his company.

512 Solar sent someone out right away, diagnosed the problem, fixed it and left all super fast. It was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend this business to anyone needing solar installation maintenance done.
