arose after we gave him the project to paint our kitchen island; He basically did not provide us a sample of the cabinets, did the project in a hurried careless state, left us with beyond SUBPAR cabinetry that were not at all what we wanted. This would have normally not been a huge issue as most professional companies faced with a work that is not satisfactory would redo the project and meet your expectations. Well Chris literally threw a fit, considering our dissatisfaction an "insult" to his
"great" work that "90% would approve of" and not only that refused to redo the project, asking for more money to redo the project even though we had paid him the full amount for the island. He even went on to insult us further by saying ?so you got a bad burger and now you want a free burger huh?? and went on to blame us for ?approving? it even though we never saw a sample. Mind you, we did not want a ?free? island as we paid him, we just wanted to work to be corrected to our satisfaction.
Unfortunately, we made the poor decision to pay for the project up front as he seemed very short for money and we actually TRUSTED him after months of projects but what a mistake. He actually took our money without regard to deliver a service and basically told us that if we wanted the money that ?we could sue him?. We wrote him emails asking him to do the right thing but Chris Brecht has no morals or ethics as he feels it ok to take money and leave people dissatisfied without any attempt to redeem the situation. The kitchen cabinets look nothing like what we asked. They have finger print marks and areas where the paint literally dripped off and the color just looks ?dirty?; nothing like what we wanted which was a clean cabinet with white
uniform cocoa glaze that did not look like a 5 year old grabbed a brush at it.
On initial encounter, Chris Brecht seems professional, timely, and responsive. He actually is a good faux painter and his work itself is good. He did so much in our house that we saw him as more of a friend. We were satisfied with our work UNTIL we decided to make the unfortunate decision to have him redo and paint our kitchen island cabinets. It was during this disagreement that Chris Brecht showed how unprofessional, unethical he could be. Regardless of his good work on
painting the house, he truly left a bitter taste in our mouth as he practically took our money without regard. After giving this guy over $15,000 in project, this was the outcome. The irony of this all is that prior to how he handled our kitchen island we were satisfied and would have likely given him more work but he lost that chance. This guy is so disregarding that despite stealing money from us, he actually has the picture of our house as his front page picture for his website to get more customers. We asked him to remove it and he has not done so even though we asked him several times. After threatening to sue him and write reviews, he offered to do a bathroom for free (all the bathrooms we wanted were tiny and nothing comparable to this project) but this was after a horrible encounter and numerous emails that left us in an appalling state with no desire to continue any work with this guy.
Just know that he will have no issues taking your money and leaving you dissatisfied without an ounce of regard. If you use him just hope everything goes smooth cause just a little glitch will leave you with a mountain of problems.
