It started out 2 weeks ago last Friday. We sat down and wrote up a proposal. He called because I was out of town, and he said that the roof was not near code, and it didn?t have legal pitch. He never put it down in writing, but he said he would do all of the work for $25000. He was going to do a basic complete overhaul of the roof. That Friday we gave him, $3000 to start the work, and they took some roofing off and cut a hole in the roof, but they didn?t cover it up. It rained that night, and it damaged the drywall in my dining room. On Saturday, they were working on the roof, and on Monday, he said it was going to cost more than he thought because he needed to re-frame the entire roof, so we gave him another $10,000 more. The following Friday, He then asked me if he could get $7000 to make payroll. Then, a week ago last Monday, he told me that he?d under bid the job by $3500. At this point, he asked me for additional money. I told him I had no more money left to give. On Thursday, they finally got the tar paper down on the roof, and that was the last I?ve seen of them. I?d already given him $20,000, so I told him no more money until it was finished. I?ve been pricing the materials at Home Depot, and he is no where near this amount in materials. He has told me different stories about the cost of the shingles and where he needs to pick them up. Yesterday, I called, and they told me they were going to be here today to finish up the job, and now I can only get their voicemail, no matter what number I call. He gave me a 3 week deadline, and the deadline isn?t here until Friday, however I?m concerned with the fact that they are unreachable, and they are not showing up.
Description of Work: I asked them to build a carport and a roof over my deck. They have re-framed the roof and put new siding up and new roofing.

Response from Pure Green Construction
Response to complaint- We started Member’s project on August 10, 2011 for the building of 1 carport in the front of the home, a new roof over their existing back porch and to replace their roofing on their home. After starting the project we discovered that their roof was not up to code and they agreed to replace the entire roofing system with new. This entailed reframing the entire roof system, installing new insulation, decking, and shingles. During the framing of the roof we discovered that one of the walls was not level so we fixed it at no additional cost. We resided and painted the complete exterior of their home. Their home did leak from the rain but we replaced all of the damage. Their project was completed and Member asked for a breakdown of our costs of the job. Mr. Kelley provided this to her and they agreed to pay an additional amount due to under bidding the project. They asked us to give them a few days to get additional funding but said they would pay something of the over cost. When Mr. Kelley went back to the Members the following week Member was very rude and said they were not paying any additional money. Complete turnaround from the last time we spoke. In Member’s complaint he mentions material costs but there are labor costs and over head involved in any project and we went over ours by $10,000.00. My company went above and beyond to make the Members happy by doing additional work at no extra charge. Their project is complete and they were very happy with the quality of work. They have even given us a excellent reference to potential clients. Their complaint is unfounded and unfair. Resolution- I have no problem giving them a invoice for all the work that was completed but I do feel that they should pay the additional money owed for the soffit, wrapping the beams in cedar and wiring work that we did which they agreed to at the time. They received a $40,000.00 dollar exterior remodel on their home for $25,000.00 dollars. We have not been calling the Members but will put a lean on their home if the soffit money is not paid - $3,500.00. Thank you, Gwendalyn McHenry
