We visited the model home in Nov/Dec of 2012 when inquiring to start our build. We visited again in January 2014 and put money down to hold the property. We were told by the sales representative in January 2014 that we would meet with the builder to do a pre-construction meeting. This meeting never occurred. On 1-21-2014 we requested pricing for some custom lighting that we wanted added to the home. The contract for the build was signed on 1-25-2014. In February 2014, we asked the sales representative numerous times to be notified when the slab would be poured. We were continuously told that the builder would call to let us know. No call was ever received. We also told the sales representative numerous times that our inspector needed at least 5 days notice. We were told the day before the slab pour that if we didn't have someone out there the next day to do the inspection, they would pour the concrete anyway. On 2-13-2014 we sent an email to the sales representative inquiring about the status of the pricing on the lighting. On 3-13-2014 we sent an email to the sales representative asking for the foundation report for our inspector. We received a response stating that they did not have one. On 4-5-2014 we sent an email to the sales representative reminding her that our inspector needed 5 days advance notice of the pre-drywall inspection. The pre-drywall inspection occurred on 4-9-2014. The inspector found numerous things wrong with the house. We sent an email to the sales representative on 4-9-2014 asking for work to be stopped until we have met with the builder. Work continued. I threatened to file an injunction and we finally got a response from the builder. On 4-14-2014 I asked for the name and number of the sales representatives supervisor. No response. On 4-15-2014 we received an email from the sales representative stating that the builder would be calling to schedule a walkthrough. On 4-16-2014 we were finally allowed to meet with the builder, half way through the build. We inquired on the pricing of the lighting again on 4-18-2014. On 5-10-2014 I left a voicemail for the sales representative that the wrong stone had been put on the house. No response was ever received. A two month battle ensued on getting the correct stone put on the house. We also left a message inquiring as to why there were beer bottles left all over the house and sent pictures of the beer bottles left all over the house. No response was ever received. We spoke to the neighbors and found that they had the same problems during their build. On 5-12-2014 we were notified that the builder had quit and that would be hearing from a new builder. On 5-13-2014 I called the corporate office and asked to speak with someone regarding concerns about my home. I was told that the Sales Manager was Kelly Hoodwin. No phone call was ever returned. We finally received pricing for the lighting and were told that we had to pay an extra fee for the install and clean up because the drywall was already up and they had to do extra inspections because we waited too late to ask for the light. I told the builder that we had asked for the lighting before the house ever existed, provided him with documentation of same, and told him to take the light and shove it. On 5-15-2014 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and provided copies of all of the emails to/from the sales representative since January 2014. Onyx responded to the complaint stating that they had spoken with us regarding the complaints and had been in constant contact with us regarding the build. They also stated that we had never asked for the lighting until very late in the build. I responded back and said to read the documentation and all of the numerous emails provided since January asking for the lighting. After meeting with the new builder in May, Rusty Breedlove, I cannot say enough good things about him. He came in, cleaned up a mess, did everything he said he was going to do, and saved his company from being sued. He has returned every phone call and kept us notified of everything that was going on. He has checked with us after the closing and taken care of things that needed fixing. We were set for closing and Onyx would not cooperate with the lender and get them the documentation they needed. I told the sales representative that I had already spoken with the lawyer and to get the lender the documents they needed or I was going to sue them. The documentation miraculously appeared at the lender's office that afternoon. Then the final appraisal of the house came in $15,000 lower than the sales price. The lender again tried working with Onyx and were old by Onyx that it was not their problem to contact the appraiser and get the issue worked out. Things were finally settled and we were allowed to close. The sales representative was in contact with us throughout the process and made the best of being put in a very bad situation. I feel that she did her job to the best of her ability, having to deal with a builder who was an idiot and was not interested in doing his job. After the new builder came in, she pretty much disappeared, but did keep in touch with us through the closing process and did come by to check on us after the closing. As for the people in the corporate office, they lie, do not return calls, and could care less about anything except for getting their money. I would definitely not recommend this company for anything.
