Both he and his wife (who handled scheduling over the phone) were very nice and extremely helpful.  When I initially called to schedule an appointment, she told me to first test the level of buildup inside the chimney to see if we really needed to get the service, and exactly how to do that.  None of the providers I called to get quotes from suggested this, they were only too happy to take our money.  So I hung up, and did the test with flat-head screwdriver, then called back to schedule the work.  The prices were on a par if not a little better than the other places I had called--paired with their helpfulness and willingness to possibly forego an additional source of income if we didn't actually need them, I was happy to give them my business.
When he came to do the cleaning, he was prompt, very thorough, spread protective sheets all around the fireplace so no soot got on anything in the room, and even told us what the main causes of creosote buildup tend to be (placing wet wood on a fire instead of dry).  My husband and I were very pleased with the service, and plan on using them again.

We scheduled an appointment.  Lon was on time.  The inspection went very well.  He showed me the condition of my chimney.  I was very pleased with his professionalism and knowledge.

He checked out all the chimnies and provided additional suggestions and advice.

Feedback was good and improvements were made to dryer venting.  Feedback on chimney was good - indicating no problems or need for cleaning.  Brought up several other things he could look at while there, and we did look at several and addressed improvements in dryer venting.

He showed up on time (on a Saturday) and did a great job and got lots of lint out. Dryer works much better now. He also took a look at the chimney and said nothing needed to be done to it. Would definitely recommend and use again.

I have used their service for 30 years. The same guy has serviced my chimney in two different locations. He is a quiet, knowledgeable, and professional service provider. You have to work with his schedule in advance, so it does take some planning but it is well worth the service.

Top Hat services were quick, correct, and on time. They arrived when scheduled, moved the furniture, put down all the safety and protective gear before beginning. Then they went over the bill, and they departed. Very professional.

I found Top Hat Chimney Sweeps through Google rating recently. The reviews all said such nice things about Top Hat and the owners that I decided to call for an estimate.  Mrs. Rosser pleasantly and efficiently gave me a quote and booked us an appointment for a chimney sweep and inspection.  My husband had cleaned our chimney a few years ago, but we haven't used our fireplace in awhile because he thought he saw a crack in the firebox. Lon Rosser was so honest. He told me my husband had done a good job, that our chimney didn't need cleaning and that the metal lining of our fireplace is safe to use. Since he didn't have to do the work we had scheduled, I asked him if he cleans dryer vents and he said yes. Our dryer vent exits out the roof, and keeping it safely clean has been a concern. Lon moved out our dryer and found that our (not that old) hose was crunched, brittle, and had shifted to an inefficient position. He cleaned the vent and replaced the hose with aluminum which will be much safer. When Lon went outside to see if he could see dryer lint coming out the vent, I went along and saw proof of the good work. Lon went through a home safety checklist with me before leaving and told his company will contact us in Spring of 2014 to offer service. I was so impressed with the honest and excellent service we received, I told Mr. Rosser I had not been able to find him on Angie's List., and that if it is alright with him, I'd like to tell how much my husband and I appreciate his ethics and the quality of his work.
