We met Phil by chance at Lowes. He was meeting with an employee whose roof he was going to replace because of hail damage. He offered advice to us about dealing with our insurance company as well as other helpful tips for getting our roof replaced. We met with several other roofers including another Angies List candidate. Phil was the most thorough, straight forward and honest of all the people we interviewed. Also, he provided a long list of previous clients for us to contact. He even invited us to a job site where he was working at the time. He not only explained what we needed, but he also met with the adjustor while she was examining our house for damage. We didn't even have a signed contract with Phil when he came and met with our insurance adjustor. Phil went through all the work the insurance company outlined and we added a few things to the repair list. He also said he would negotiate with our insurance company on damage related things not included in the adjustors list.
Once that was done we signed the contract and he was working on our house within 1 week. The Friday before work was to start on the following Tuesday, I changed my selection of roof tile. Phil was gracious, no problem and that I had given him plenty of time to change my mind especially since the shingles had not yet been delivered. Every time we called, Phil either answered or called us back within a short time. We never felt left out or uninformed. That is how everything has gone with Phil. He has been here working with his crew throughout the job.
We had a few glitches, but Phil addressed our concerns and made Everything right. He has been with us every step of the way and he has not let us down. Now that says something since usually I have to settle and make accommodations for work I wanted to have done. I am usually let down by expecting people to do what they say they will do. Not this time! Phil has earned my trust and respect. Phil is an honest hardworking man. He worked as hard as anyone on his crew and was here when he said he would be here. I even felt comfortable leaving while he was working on the house. That is another first for me. I have not had much luck before, felt like I always had to be here and watch to make sure stuff is done and done correctly. Phil is different. The work he and his crew did is top notch and my husband is a stickler for details.
Nothing was damaged while they were here. In fact they took extra care not to damage anything including covering our pool so no debris could damage the liner. They cleaned up every evening before they left; there was no trash or anything for me to do. They even rolled the driveway and lawn to get any errant nails and metallic waste that may have fallen. Phil has the kind of work ethics that used to be common place but is now sorely lacking in today's world. He is an honest man and that in itself is so refreshing and rare. However, he is also a craftsman who does excellent work. If I ever need anything for our house a roofer, painter, contractor, or whatever, I will call Phil. He's a keeper and I feel very lucky to have found such a skilled and honest man to help during such a trying time.
If asked why Phil and not someone else, I would say:
(1) He's honest, fair, trustworthy, and true to his word,
(2) He does quality work,
(3) He's local and been in business for more than 15 years,
(4) He's knowledgeable and does not try to cheat you into getting what you don't need,
(5) He gives you advice and information to make an informed decision about what can be done to give you the best results,
(6) He's here with his crew and does a lot of the work himself,
(7) He gives you the personal attention you need to feel comfortable with the work being done,
(8) He's never too busy to talk and answer questions, (9) He's calm and professional and addresses any and all issues courteously, (10) He only uses quality materials and works with crews with whom he has a long standing relationship.
Thanks to Phil, I have a great new roof plus gutters, etc. and my house has never looked better. I know this may sound a bit over the top, but truly I have never been so happy with having someone work on my house. If you have had my kind of luck with having work done for you, I hope this review helps. I would trust Phil with any work around my house.

We have just begun the process of replacing our roof and all the other things that were damaged by the recent hail storm. We were so inundated with contractors and really were unsure of who to select. We did check those listed, but when one of the adjustors from one of the listed contractors came to give us an estimate, he down played the offer on Angies List and implied we would get better service if we did not use the deal listed. That left us very uneasy about this contractor even though he was highly rated and recommended. We met Phil in Lowes while we were pricing replacement shingles, skylight, windows, etc. He was there because he was replacing a roof on the house of an Lowes employee. He was very open about what to do and gave us info and references to check. We met with Phil and he invited us to visit a job he was currently working on completing. We were impressed with his thorough inspection of our damage and he even met with the insurance adjuster on our roof. All of this was done before we even decided to have him repair and replace our roof. He has been honest, open and fair with us. He himself works with the crew who has been with him for over 10 years. He's been here working by himself to begin our repairs. I will give updates as the job progresses. As for now, I couldn't be happier or more at peace about having this gentleman working on our property. I think he's a keeper.
