In the beginning it went well like everyother job they completed jobs in a timely manner and fixe anything we asked. The agreement was I would make 4 payments and the last being after te project is fully completed. After the 3 rd payment is where things went wrong they messed up on my cabinets and I had to tell them what I wanted 3 times and they still didn't fix it. They messed up texture or refused to remove fixture so they can texture behind or around them. They stopped showing up and wouldnt call to let me know that they wouldn't be there or why. Even when we had ti meet an hour from my house, I drive to look at granite and stood around for an hour to finally find out he wasn't going to show. My oven doesn't fit in my cabinet, my bifold door doesn't fit in the opening they made, my fridge out is a 220 which is double what it needs which cause my fridge to get fried and we had to replace it. When cutting the cabinets I specifically told them not to cut by my pool, yet they did and cause alot of damage to my pool. I also ordered a sink thAt came broken, I contacted the seller they told me to ship it back but web I came home the sink was gone. I was told they gave it to ups but couldn't show me proof. They agreed to pay for the damages but now are asking for receipts I don't have since the receipt was in the box they "sent away" and my pool still hasn't been fixed. They kept asking for the last payment or try wouldn't work, their workers made threats to us multiple times and noone would show up which made us lose trust in them, we gave them chances to come back to work and they wouldn't show up. His workers have told his many times that they don't get paid and they cut corners. They go the cheap route so they pocket the money. This company does great work if they actually work but at this point he ruined alot of our things to where we are losing money although he claims he lost alot of money. I know people like to give companies the benefit of the doubt but this one does not deserve it. He seems nice and all, but just remember, they are trying to sell themselves so who wouldn't be nice and say things to make you happy. It's just like politics!! They lie to get your work!

The amount spent was the upfront amount.  This paid for the plumbing, which was good.  However, when they started doing the hardybacker and subfloor, the work was sloppy and very low quality.  They didn't follow the manufacturer's instructions (using non-corrosion resistant nails on the backer board in a shower).  The subfloor was laid three different times, with slopes going away from the drain!  The work crew was not properly supervised by the contractor/manager - we had to check things ourselves and finally gave up when things were constantly wrong and having to be done over and over again.  We found out later that the management didn't fully pay the plumbing team, saying that WE had not paid the initial invoice at all, when in fact we had.  Overall, a poor experience. (This is the very short version - other things went wrong, but it is too frustrating to relive on paper!)

Before I put down the down payment, they were always on time and respectful. After that, they seldom showed up when they said they would, and since I wasn't living in the house yet, this required me to either wait for them or return later, sometimes with only ten minutes notice to be there--none of which was convenient. They sprayed the cabinets but took the doors away to do in their shop. It took four tries to get the doors to match the rest--and they tried to tell me it was not possible until I pointed out a door that actually matched. They were also very messy and didn't clean up after themselves until I demanded it. They got stain on the freshly painted walls and left drips of paint on my countertops. Then they used the wrong paint on some bathroom doors--although they had mysteriously found the right paint when they touched up the kitchen after they got stain on it. They don't understand a deadline--staying a full week past their deadline, although they kept promising they'd be done in a day or two. They did the job finally, and the lead was always professional in conversation, but give them a deadline at least a week ahead of when you actually want them to be done. They don't have respect for your time, and they have no idea how long it will take to do the job. Their initial estimate of 2-3 days turned into 3 weeks. I think the lead has the potential, but he seems to think they can do more than they can in the time allowed.
Response from JV & Sons Construction Services
"In response to this report which makes my company look completely unproffesional and unpunctual is to say the least unfair. In the beggining of this project, we decided that it was going to take about 2-3 days providing everything went to plan and there were no changes to the original plan of action (which was changed 3-4 times) However as many contractors have come across with, not every project goes as smoothly as you would like it to be. We changed the cabinet color on the members cabinets knowing fully well that it was going to be a tedious job since her cabinets were made out of poplar wood with MDF faces and were painted with a gloss finish. We had to sand everything off and then stain them to the color that the member wanted, which changed about 3 times since we started, which made us come back those 3 times and in turn made the project seem longer and therefore stressful on both sides. I had warned the member that it would have been easier to just get completely new cabinets so we dont run into this problem or any problems, but she didnt want to pay any more money that we had already quoted her, because she was doing other additions to her home. We covered up her floors, her Marble top with sheets and tape to not make a mess but after you come back 3 times to do the same thing, things start getting messy. We cleaned everything up till it was satisfactory to the member but even then she thought the place was a mess, even though she was in the process of moving in and settling into her home. In essence she got what she paid for, because any other contractor would have either told her to get someone else to it for that price or get new cabinets done for a few hundres dollars more. It is true that there were times that I could not bet there to loook fter the project but I had full faith that my crew was handling it with care. I ended up putting money out of my own pocket to finally get this color to match to what the member wanted and not once did she recognize that she made these changes and therefore at least compensate for what I had spent. On top of that once it came time to finalize the project, the member decided to take upon her own hands to not pay the Balance due upon completion of the project, She in turn decided to send me a cheque in the mail broken down in 3 payments. The member thought this was a fair action to take since we took a long time to finish her project. A few days ago I got my last cheque which completed that balance and It was almost a month after the job had been completed fully. Nowhere in the contracting world, (unless its agreed upon both parites) does it state that a client can take such action for a job that was from the beggining a job that not many contractors or individual painters will take, and it states clearly on my contract that the balance was due upon completion of the project. I dont like to be treated as an unproffesional individual when I did everything possible to have this project done in such manner. My company has been in bussiness for over 12 years in the same industry and we ran into some strange requests and clients, but we have never behaved in an unproffesional manner."

Very well. Approximately four days start to finish on-site. We picked out the counter tops at the warehouse. Our selection was more than our budget but Juan was able to work it out with the vendor to get the slab without increasing the price. I threw them a couple of curves during the process but they adapted very wall and are very customer service oriented.

This job was extensive and required many decisions and deadlines. Juan and his son were very accommodating to our needs and schedules and the crew was very talented. We love the finished product!

I contacted JV & Sons and spoke with Juan Jr. I needed this work done quickly, so Juan Jr. and his dad came out the same day to take a look at the work and give me an estimate. He provided me an estimate via email within 24 hours, and began the work the next day (on a Saturday). Juan Jr. (owner) was there at the beginning of the job to get his team started, checked back in on the progress several times throughout the day, and was there at the end to ensure I was completely satisfied with the work. Originally the locks installed on the doors at my home were not keyed the same, so I asked if they could get that fixed. Juan Jr. personally took the locks back to the store and had them all keyed to my satisfaction. Their team worked quickly and with as little disruption to Saturday life at our home. They were professional and courteous. The work was completed to my satisfaction and in a timely manner, and they cleaned up after they were done. I will definitely use them again.
