We had things in our house giving us concern like cracks, doors not shutting, sloping floors, etc...I was advised to call an independent engineer so I called MG after seeing his positive reviews on Angie's list.  From the start he was very responsive and friendly, unlike other similar companies I had called.  He was patient, answered all my questions, and helpful even before he came to our house.

When he evaluated whether or not we needed foundation repair, he was equally thorough and helpful at our house.  He took his time to educate us about our foundation, what everything meant, and gave us the "low down" on how foundation companies might try to get business sometimes.  All in all, I felt he gave a very honest evaluation, Im sure saving us thousands of dollars in the long run.

Lastly, I will say MG is very nice and good working  with  people.  When home repairs come up, my husband can be very skeptical thinking everyone is out to "get him" and upsell him so he isn't always comfortable with service providers, but MG was very patient with my husband and all his questions, so much so, that at the end my husband who is so frugal, ended up saying to me "that's the best money we've ever spent!"

Now, I would have paid a million dollars to hear that said again :-)

We were in the option period of purchasing a home and the inspection said we had foundation problems. We decided to get an engineer to evaluate the severity of the foundation issues. Since we were in our option period we were tight on time for an engineer to come out. I called M G in the morning and explained my situation. He was nice enough to drop everything he was doing and meet me at my house in 2 hrs. When he arrived he got straight to work walking around the home(with me) and explaining in detail everything he noticed, good or bad. Then he went under the house into the crawl space. After a few minutes M G told me that I should come into the crawl space with him to evaluate my home, this was very important. He showed me everything he noticed underneath the home, again good or bad. He explained to me things that I could fix myself and what would need a professional. Then we crawled under a second crawl space to examine an addition to the house. He again took me with him and explained everything in detail. This part of the house needed extensive repairs. We got the seller to fix the foundation issues with the approval of M G passing it off. Two weeks later M G returned to the home and inspected the work. Again he did a very thorough job. The best part about M G was that he was going to give an honest opinion of the work. He was unbiased the work, he wanted to give an honest evaluation. Based off of his recommendation of the work we did not go through with the house. His opinion, honesty, and sincerity was crucial in saving us from a bad situation. Working with multiple inspection and foundation companies I have not come across anyone that cared as much about his work and doing the right thing. He is not the cheapest engineer, which he will admit himself, but he is the best. If you have any doubts about your foundation and you want to get an honest evaluation of your home please call M G.

After having performed foundation work on a remodeling project,
we were days away from closing the sale of a single family residence only to
receive a demand from the buyer?s lender to get a third party evaluation of the
property from a structural engineer. I reviewed and called several engineers
but was most impressed with Dr. MG Movassaghi (who likes to go by MG). He was
very personable and very responsive to our time demands. He has extensive
experience in the field including teaching engineering at UTA. Since he is the
owner of his company, he is in control of his schedule among other aspects of
the business. He takes a broad view of the property and enjoys educating his
clients on a more comprehensive approach to remediation than just installation
of piers. He helped me to better understand the other variables that were
affecting the foundation of the property. The bottom line is that he came out
the same day that we called him, arrived on time, was professional and very
personable and then transmitted the engineering report to us later that
evening. You just won?t find better service than that from someone of his
caliber; period. We now feel confident regarding the structural integrity of
the property as well as in our responsiveness to the buyer?s lender. As real
estate investors in the remodeling business, we are glad and feel very blessed to
have Dr. Movassaghi now on our team!

MG came out for a residential structural inspection. We were concerned about foundation, due to cracks in drywall. MG was able to place the issue on beams in attic. We are sure glad that we did not start with a foundation company. MG is very knowledgeable and polite. We would recommend him to friends.

We were not confident that the extensive backyard pool remodeling project was being executed properly. It was traumatic to hear jackhammers breaking up the decking and piles of soil all over. I was searching on Angie's list for a structural engineer in our zip code area in hopes that s/he would be able to come out to the site as soon as possible. I read through Dr. Movassaghi's expertise and contacted him right away. We had no time to waste as the work was going to continue the next day. Dr. Movassaghi dropped everything and came out to our home two hours later - off hours. His extensive experience was apparent immediately during his assessment of the project. We took his recommendations and changed the scope of the project to include adding reinforced concrete into the plan. He visited the site several times to make sure that the work was being executed appropriately.
When the job was completed, we were confident that the backyard was designed to last. On a side-note, Dr. Movassaghi walked into this difficult situation but was able to not only assure us, step by step, that the project was going well but also was able to work seamlessly with the contractors already on the job site. He is an expert and professional and we are very grateful for his help on this project.

Currently he is a very instrumental part in dealing with the crack in the laundry room. He is very honest. He is very, very meticulous. He travels around the country when he is asked to come look at something. He will give you an honest assessment. He is also a very nice man. He is very personable and shows a real interest in what he is doing for you.

Terrible! He arrived on time and I drove my car to our lot at Possum Kingdom lake (approx. 75 miles). In Mineral Wells, he said "Let's stop at Braum's and get something to drink." We went in and then he said "I forgot my billfold!" I bought his drink and mine. Arriving at our lot, he seemed confused as to why he was there. (We were going to build and I wanted him to determine what kind of foundation would be best on our hillside lot. (I had told him beforehand). I repeated the request and he said "use steel pipe." That was it. No report, no soil test, nothing. He went on to talk about a building he had built using pipe, and about Iran, where he was from. (This guy is Ali Babba for sure)! When we got back, he asked for his check for $500, which I paid, unfortunately.

He retired from the State of Texas as a structural engineer. He is working well with my concrete company. I am very confident in his services. I highly recommend him because he is very thorough. He is very detailed and precise. He knew what would correct the problem and knew how to advise the contractor to get it done correctlly. They worked very well together.
