Agreed on pool heater install with employee named Noee and they never showed for the appointment and never even called. I made it clear we needed it done before a big party or else I needed to use a different company! Noee said no problem, I rescheduled and can you believe they didn't show AGAIN!!!! No call AGAIN!! Ridiculous. I have since left messages for not only Noee but 2 other employees and have never received a call back. Took off work for both appts and they were a no show both times! Called today and could not reach a live person at all 7 extensions. Terrible service! By the way, they installed our pool 12 years ago and on the first day of install they cracked our newly poured concrete driveway in half and refused to repair it! It was a $70,000 pool and they would not do a $600 repair!!! BEWARE! They take your money but follow up or service is terrible! I don't see how they are still in business!!!

Part of what this homeowner has said is true, in that we did accept the work and then canceled the call. One of the two techs who was scheduled to do the install had a family emergency the night before and had to be out of work for 5 days. Not the homeowner's fault at all, but it was a legitimate family emergency that could not have been avoided so the install, along with other service work, had to be canceled. However, it is completely untrue that we didn't show up and didn't call. The service manager that is referenced (Noe) called this homeowner first thing in the morning, and talked to him. The homeowner wasn't happy, and that is completely understandable, but to say we didn't call is simply not true.

[Member Name Removed] - we went through the database and searched for your name and address, and asked our service manager and remodel manager, and nobody has a record of talking with you and we don't have a contact number. Please call us and we would be happy to help you. At a minimum I would like to speak with you to find out who you spoke with. My extension is 102.

It couldn't have gone better. A year ago, we had another company replace the coping , tile and replastered the pool. The work was done very well, but the owner/supervisor was hard to contact for questions and several things had to be redone. He also put the wrong finish on the pool surface. Which is why we were looking for a different company to do the decking and repair. Accent was prompt, professional and always easy to contact and listen to our questions. They did a wonderful job and I would use them again. They have our highest recommendation.

I receive the wrong color of stonescape pebbles should have been mid-night blue instead it was and still is brown. They claim the pebbles are black but the black bag of pebbles are only 10% black pebbles if that. Wish they would have told me my pool steps and side was going to look brown I would have never done the resurface. Not happy with color |

Accent built our first pool in Mansfield, TX and built our second pool in Southlake, TX. They build quality pools and the owners are very involved in the build process. We've called for service on our Polaris and a few other items over the last few years. It sometimes takes a day or so to talk with someone live but traditionally, once contact is made- the visit is scheduled and everything is taken care of to our satisfaction.

I apologize to [member name removed] that her call was not returned the second time. That is not the way Accent Pools does business. The importance of returning calls in a timely manner has been reinforced to the remodel/renovation specialist that she dealt with. He was under the impression that her questions were answered, but he was obviously mistaken. As the owner, I will be contacting Mrs. McKenzie today to apologize on behalf of the company and the specialist she dealt with.

Pool construction was A+ and we love our new pool, however, dealing with the owners was a challenge. We had issues over a $200 downspout, which at which time, one of the owners called and when we answered, he was yelling in a very loud, aggressive and confrontational tone using swear words. The downspout issue was resolved to our satisfaction, but then they refused to sell us a pool slide. We found working with the one owner in particular, to be very unprofessional and immature. We have built 3 houses and had other pools and never had a cross word with any of the contractors. Accent builds a wonderful and beautiful pool, but doubt we would work with them again due to their unprofessional, confrontational, and petty behavior.

Service Provider Response

This is the 3rd review posted on Angie's List by this customer (she deleted the other two) so this will be our final response to the complaint. As the customer mentioned, everything went perfectly during construction of the pool. Without getting into too much detail on the downspout, the customer was specifically told before construction began that if the downspout emptied out on existing concrete it would be up to them to have their gutter company out to reroute the downspout, but that Accent would handle any downspouts that emptied out on the new concrete that we poured. This was confirmed in an email, and again addressed during construction while standing in the customer's backyard. That is exactly what we did. When the customer sent an email voicing their displeasure that the downspout in question wasn't handled by Accent, one of the owners called the customer to remind them of the multiple conversations and the email regarding the downspout. When the customer answered the phone, he immediately got heated and accused the owner of being a liar. This is when the conversation got heated between both parties. The owner who designed the pool forwarded the customer the email proving the earlier conversation about the downspout being the homeowner's responsibility, but in an effort to make the customer happy agreed to hire a gutter company to take care of it so the customer didn't have to. After that was taken care of and the pool was complete, the customer came back and emailed that owner for a price to add a slide. This was not part of the original contract and the pool was complete. Taking into account the way things had gone at the end of the construction, that owner decided it would be better to not enter into another contract with the customer, so he politely declined the work and gave the customer referrals to 2 other companies who could potentially perform the work for them. In the end this customer had work completed on the gutter that they know was never part of the original contract. Even if the 2 conversations were forgotten, the email proved they knew it was their responsibility. In an effort to make the customer happy Accent took the hit and had the work done, but based on that didn't feel comfortable performing any extra work for this customer.

First, this review is regarding their service ONLY-- they build a GREAT pool and I would highly recommend that anyone choose Accent to build their pool They built my pool 8 years ago and it turned out great! Unfortunately, their ongoing maintenance service is not as good. I have used them for weekly chemical services and regular equipment maintenance for my pool for the last several years and I kept giving them and quot;one more chanceand quot; too many times. The incident that was the last straw is pretty typical of what I've dealt with over the length of the service. A month ago, the service scheduler called and said that the weekly service tech recommended a filter clean and wanted to know if this was ok, since it would be an additional charge. I okayed this and she said she would get it scheduled. A couple weeks later, a different person called and said the same thing. I sighed and said that I'd okayed this a couple weeks ago. She said that she would get it on the schedule and quot;next Wednesday.and quot; The following Monday I received a voicemail that my regular weekly service would not be done because the tech had a family emergency. I received a call the next day saying that service would be delayed again since the tech was still out, but that they would have someone there the next day. I said, and quot;ok, so the filter clean will get done then too, right?and quot; She paused and I could tell she had no idea what I was talking about. At that point, I should have just put an end to it, but I responded that if they wanted to remain my service provider that I needed my service to be completed the next day and that the filter clean would be done too. And that I wanted a call back the next day confirming that the service was done (often I would have no idea that they had been there to fix something until I received a bill). I received a voicemail about 7 pm the next day saying that they and quot;hadn't gotten to itand quot; and when the scheduler called me back the next day, I terminated their service. I would not have done this if this had been the only incident, but this was just a repeat of continued problems of this type and I really can't believe that I kept it up as long as I did-- especially when I have already hired another company at a lower price.

Rudimentary pool design. $1500 "design fee" by general contractor Mike Medford was unnecessary as Accent would have done that for no cost. Accent is high and the designs were very basic -- not too near the level of sophistication and quality from others.

Service Provider Response

We are extremely surprised to receive this review. Accent Pools did not perform any work for [Member name removed]. We were contacted by a general contractor who was submitting bids to [Member name removed]to try and secure a contract to make over [Member name removed] backyard. The GC does not build swimming pools so he asked Accent Pools to put together a design and bid so that it could be included in his bid. We put together the proposal using the specifications given to us. If the design was rudimentary, with which we disagree, it's because the specifications given to us were rudimentary. Essentially Accent Pools put together a design and bid using specifications given to us and submitted it. That is the extent of the "work" completed for [Member name removed] by Accent Pools. The design fee he paid to the GC is between them and has nothing to do with Accent Pools.

Contacted Accent Pools for a quote for a new pool with and spa and lots of extra decking. Tom came out on short notice and spoke with us to find out what idea's we had. He was very professional and took lots of pictures. Within 36 hours, he sent us very nice 3D images of our acutal house with the proposed pool! Very nice job and very fast! We had gotten 3 other quotes. Accent was just a little higher! With that being said, the company we chose had installed a pool for us 10 years prior and gave us a discount for being a repeat customer. Tom did a great job and would consider them in the future..

I was amazed with the speed in which the men worked. And always ready to answer questions. I took pictures of the whole process. I stayed home from work the first two days and that was good for me for my own peace of mind. After that, I just left the gate open so they could come in. They cleaned very well. The only and quot;don'tand quot; I have is that they set the minipebble mixture in my side yard in a big box of water/whatever. They removed it the next day. However, after they were done, that grass had been killed. I hope it comes back next summer. With St. Augustine, I'm sure it will spread and cover the dead parts. Eloy gives you his phone so you can call him with any concerns. Sarah is wonderful at the shop to help answer any questions. They underbid by quite a bit on high quality stuff for my pool. I think I have the pics of the old and new pool. The old coping had red brick and was like sitting on a pizza oven every summer. I hope that the Oklahoma flagstone will be a bit cooler on the fanny. I would definitely recommend these guys. They built this pool back 30 years ago, so they will be here for a long, long time from now.
Description of Work
Eloy is the salesman and overall quality control person I think. He came out in late August or early Sept to give me a quote. Brought some ideas with him. Gave me an estimate. After he talked about the mini-pebbles plaster versus the white plaster, I was so sold on that. It lasts almost twice as long as the white plaster. And they can add abalone shells (free of charge) to the mixture to make your pool have a little sparkle. I called this company because they built this pool back in 1982. Each owner of my home has passed down all records to the new owner. Amazing. Warranty's, samples of paint, carpet, etc. And so I even had the original blue prints of the pool. I got 4 estimates. Accent had the best. And they really care! I can't tell you how much they care about their name and they will make it right. So, I went with the mini-pebbles and flagstone coping, and a great tile. Sarah and Lori at the shop helped me a great deal. Then, as most women do, I decided to have the diving board taken out. Those things are not safe any more. Especially one installed 30 years ago. My home insurance people will be happy! I had, instead, a beautiful diving rock installed. It looks so fine. Although I do call it a frog. That's why the total price came in higher than originally. And then, I told Eloy about how the pool light kept flickering while I swam at night. He said that was not safe. Could mean water behind the light. I could be fried! So, we replaced that also. So, above is the total price. They also referred me to a great guy who redid the paint and power-washed my decking. So it would match the pretty new pool. I waited until after the swimming season because I didn't want to give up one day where I could swim. After that, I was so impressed with how fast they moved. They did the entire tile and coping on a 21 ft, X 43 ft. pool in one day! Then the deck man came in the next two days. The next week, the did the plastering and then the minipebbles. By Wednesday we were filling the pool. It was done by noon Thursday. Eloy came out and did the first chemistry check after Doug checked the whole quality. They also recommended a chlorination instead of the floaty thing I have now. To protect the finish.

The pool looks great.. I drained the pool and they went to work on time. The job took about six days (longer than normal) but the weather did not cooperate for two of them. They sandblasted the pool and replaced the tile perfectly. I would recommend using a tarp over windows if I did it again (my windows' seals have broken, but that's my home's fault, not Acccent's). My pool guy (or kids) must have stepped in the wet mastic in one spot, and an otherwise great job was marred in one location. Accent insisted they couldn't leave a completed job looking like that regardless of who's at fault, so Doug and his team returned and performed the repair. I bugged them a lot on the phone (I'm anal about home repairs affecting resale), and they didn't mind at all. At one point Accent communicated directly with my pool guy on aftercare. In short, they made sure everything was as good as it could be. They WANT the finished product to be done right, and that makes all the difference. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants a quality pool restoration or repair. UPDATE: Eventually had to fire my pool guy because of poor responsiveness. Twice he let the pool go Irish green. Both times I called Accent pools and they fixed it. Guess who my pool service is now?
Description of Work
The previous owners of my house drained the swimming pool and painted over the algae that seeped into the plaster. Then they sealed it. Over time, the paint flaked off but the algae stayed. It was a definite eyesore and a deal-killer for anyone looking to buy the house. I took 4 bids, and based on Angies List, I chose Accent Pools. The work included sandblasting the pool, replacing mastic sealant, and laying decorative tile on the pool steps.

We interviewed MULTIPLE pool builders during the summer of 2010. Ultimately, Accent Pools provided a quote with drawings to the specifications for the most pool we could get for the money we had budgeted. It took a couple of months to get all of the work done, but we are VERY, VERY happy with the finished job! We requested a few minor changes during the job and Accent got it all done beautifully! without any changes to agreed original pricing. There is only one thing I would do different in hindsight during this very HOT summer: We should have asked about some kind of and quot;chillerand quot; or something to cool the water down when it is 100+ degrees for 25 days and counting. We swim in the mornings and at night now when the water cools back down. Overall, we would do it all over again. We are very happy with Accent Pools and our pool!

I had service with Accent pools for 2+ years and during that time had them replaster, retile, replace equipment and had a moss rock fountain installed summer of 2010. it was beautiful and looked perfect however it leaked on several occasions until they had to take down the fountain to repair the leaking pipes underneath. When they replaced the fountain they used the most horrible gray slate looking rock (looked like chopped up sidewalk). When I complained that it didn't look anything like the first fountain they were very rude and would not commit to repairing it. After I submitted a complaint to the BBB they offered to replace it but wanted me to go to the rock farm and pick out the rock myself. I agreed and was supposed to meet one of their people to assist me. i was there for 2 hours in the heat looking at rock piles and they didn't show up. I picked what I thought the first one looked like and then called to let them know I wasn't sure it was the correct one as they look much different in a pile than next to the fountain. I provided full color pictures of the first fountain to them so they could assure the rock was as close as possible. They replaced the fountain again and it still looks nothing like the first one. The mortor at the bottom is hideous and very visable, the rock doesn't have the same depth or color as the first one and it is't appealing to look at anymore. Had the first fountain looked anything like this one I wouldn't have paid for it but since I had already paid them a large sum of money I'm stuck with what they decided to use. The rocks next to the tile are broken off on the sides, the mortor is covering half the tile that I also just had replaced. They have treated me like it was my fault and I should be happy with whatever they want to use. I just wanted it to look like the first one but it seems they are incapable of doing it. They emptied the pool and refilled twice during May so you can imagine what my water bill was at my expense. Because they emptied it and didn't add the appropriate chemicals when it was refilled the pool surface feels like rough sandpaper and I have algea growing on it in several places that they refused to fix. I had another pool company look at it and they said it was obvious the person who placed the rock was inexperienced. I would not recommend or use this company again. UPDATE: The only reason Accent Pools responded to this complaint is because they are fearful of future customers choosing someone else. Please notice how they didn't address the mortor covering half the tile or the broken rock on the sides of the fountain or the coping/deck that they broke. My neighbor just had a fountain installed by another company and they did a great job. Too bad I didn't have them do mine. They are also mistaken about a current pool service company. They are responsible for the scaling and algea in the pool as it occurred after THEY supposedly treated it. Another pool company didn't touch it. Get your facts straight before you respond. The only thing you got correct is that Leslies told me YOU didn't stabalize the chemicals not some other mystery company. I will send you a copy of my water bill and follow up on Angies list whether or not you pay it.

Service Provider Response

We would like to respond to the member's post, addressing her issues. To begin, her waterfall was not a "horrible gray slate". That's just not true. It was built from moss rock boulders that you find at any stone yard. It did have a leak, and we wanted her to be happy with the finished product, so we agreed to tear it down and rebuild it. We committed to this before her BBB complaint. As a matter of fact, we had already begun attempting to fix her waterfall when she contacted the BBB. When we told her we would rebuild it, we asked her to go to a stone yard and pick out the stone she wanted. We wanted to make sure she got a stone she liked. We NEVER set a time to meet her. I still have the email we sent her on 5/13/11 giving her instructions for picking the stone. Her response was "Okay will do. When should I tell them it will be picked up by your guys?". Obviously, she didn't expect to meet someone. We asked her to have the stone yard tag the rock she wanted, then we would pick it up and use that stone to rebuild the waterfall. We did this because she obviously had something specific in mind, and stone is subjective. What one person likes may not be what another person likes, and we wanted to make sure she liked the stone. It is impossible to find stone to match a waterfall that was previously built as is it quarried everyday. No two waterfalls are the same, which is why she went to the stone yard to choose what she liked. We picked up the stone she chose and rebuilt her waterfall using that stone. She's correct in saying that the new waterfall doesn't look exactly like the first one - it never will. However, it is similar, very nice, and built from the stone SHE chose. We did have to drain the pool in order to rebuild the waterfall. I still have a copy of an email we sent her on 5/12 offering to reimburse her for the extra water usage. She never sent us her water bill, but we are happy to reimburse her for that if she will send it to us. After her pool filled back up, we did add the correct start up chemicals to her pool, just like we do for every pool, and we told her that. Mrs. Copeland has a company that goes out to her house and takes care of her pool for her. If they are not maintaining her pool chemicals correctly, that is between her and her service company. She realizes this as she called our office and told us that she took her water to Leslie's to get tested and they told her that her chemical balance was off and gave her suggestions on things to try. We have tried everything reasonable to make the member happy. As evidenced by our other 8 ratings on Angie's list, which are all "A" ratings, we do everything we can to make our customers happy during and after the construction process. Unfortunately, there are some people that won't be happy regardless of what you do.

Very good experience in getting estimates for a new pool construction from this company. They were punctual and very detailed with their estimate. We were very happy with our pool. We decided not to go with them for the pool equipment because the guy that was giving us the estimate kept calling the office to find out what to tell my husband. However, they are recommended still by one of the pool equipment stores. It was a wonderful company. The father was great. Of course the kids were probably young then. Their price was good, but they weren't the cheapest. I remember them being more creative in the design than the other companies. They were more custom in spite of our having a fairly small house in a medium income neighborhood. The quality of work was really good. I can't really say what quality the son is doing now because I am not positive but I think the reviews have been pretty good. We got the estimate this time and their pricing was about the same as the other people. They were using good equipment. Originally when we had the pool built, they were great.
