Lowes had the best prices in the area for most of what we needed for a very large rebuild that we did this past year. It involved redoing the plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, doors, windows, etc. Much of the work was DIY so the process needed advice constantly from the salepeople at the store. Many of them were very helpful and I was able to benefit from their experience. In addition, when you frequent a store eveyday for months everyone seems to know you and your project. LOL. To this we also benefitted since the contractors were very willing to offer their advice as well; some good and some not so good - advice is often free... Later in the year when I needed materials for a smaller project I found that I had gained experience to find most of my list and I knew where to go and how to ask for what I couldn't find or didn't know. Lowes is definitely and friendly place once you learn the ropes so don't get frustrated and ask ask and ask again. You will get the help you need 99% of the time. In cases where we needed installation I found it best to hire people outside to do the work to keep it personal and upfront.

The young lady that helped us stood out the most about dealing with them.

We had high hopes for this company based on the name, figured we could trust them. Needed new windows for a house that we had purchased for a rental. The salesman quickly showed up with his sample of a Pella window stating this was the "only" window we could order. The price was almost $1000 more than other companies, which I mentioned the salesman so he gave me a 15% discount as a "favor". We decided to go ahead and order from Lowes, again thinking we could "trust" them to do a good job and Pella windows are a good product. The salesman PROMISED that the windows would arrive in time as we had renters ready to move into the house March 1st. He quickly accepted our money at the install department and we signed a contract...that was Feb 13th. By Feb 24th we were starting to get worried, so we called and they said the windows should arrive soon, so we asked the new tenants to delay their move in until March 8th figuring that should be enough time for the windows to arrive and be installed...the salesman promised the windows would be installed by March 1st! By March 5th still no windows, no call from Lowes, so we called them again and they informed us that the windows were back ordered and wouldn't arrive at the store until March 13th. By now I'm in tears! Especially sad was the fact that no one called us...we had to "bug" them to get any answers. In the middle of this wait, Lowes install "team" called us Feb 20th and said " we have been trying to reach you! We have our install guy heading to your house and needs to re measure the windows to make sure of the salesman's measurement and you had better be there!" (I'm not kidding on the "tone" the girl used to speak with me...very demanding and rude) I was on my way to get my daughter from the airport so I could not be over there and I went crazy on them! Told them to cancel the contract and that we wanted our money back immediately and hung up on her! (I regret that...I was pretty mad). Amazingly, the salesman called me right back and said everything will be ok and that the installer can take the measurements from the outside and not to worry, so we continued with the agreement and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally the windows arrive at the Lowes store on March 13th...however, we still had to wait for them to be installed. On March 19th the installer called and said he would be there at 9:00am. Called again and said he couldn't make it until 1:00. Called again and said how about 2:00? It went that way for 2 weeks, where the install crew would show up for a couple of hours each day. They finally finished on March 31st! Our poor tenants had to live around the install crew's mess for 2 weeks!!! We have more to say but ran out of room.

We went in and although we didn't get it right away, the price of the carpet went up the next day. Because we had been in there on the day before, they gave us the price of the day we went in and did not charge us the new price. I thought that was good. We had looked at it and talked to a clerk. Even though we got it 3 months later, they still gave us the price from the day that we talked to somebody. They didn't give us the new increased price. The installers and the people who took out the old carpet were very professional. The service people in the store were very professional too. They kept the price as the old price and didn't use the new price. We love the quality of the carpet. It's real thick and plush. They had trouble with drivers. They were real professional.
