"Climate Heating and Air Conditioning Co. ("Climate") was contacted by the Member on 08/01/11 stating that his air conditioning system was not working well and that it seemed to freeze up. Our service technician checked his equipment that same day. The technician noted that the condenser coil was falling apart. The technician noted on the Service Order Invoice that a new system was needed. The Member discussed the recommendation with the technician and signed the Service Work Order. On 08/02/11 Climate's President, Paul Blaha, followed up on the technician’s recommendation of a new system and performed a survey of the Member’s existing system and met with the Member to discuss an approximate price for a new system. The Member indicated that he had new indoor equipment (evaporator coil) and did not want a long term fix. He only wanted to replace the outdoor equipment. He indicated that he was going out of town and wanted his wife to have a cool house. On 08/02/11 Climate provided the Member with a quote for the outdoor equipment which the Member verbally accepted. The approved equipment was installed on 08/04/11. The total cost to the Member for the equipment installed on 08/04/11 was $2,495.00 which is $1,505.00 less than the $4,000.00 figure that the Member quoted in his complaint. On 08/27/12 the Member called to report that his heating and air conditioning ducts were sweating at the dampers and that the insulation was soaked. The ducts and dampers are part of the indoor system. Mr. Blaha inspected the Member’s indoor equipment including his duct work and determined that the cause of the sweating was the zoned system bypass blowing cold air into return air ducts and furnace. Climate did not install the indoor zoned equipment and Mr. Blaha suggested that the Member contact the company that had originally installed the equipment for service or repairs. Please note that this is just over one year from the installation of the outdoor equipment and there were no service requests during this one year period. The same day response from our service technician to the 08/01/11 service request, Mr. Blaha's follow up survey and meeting with the Member the next day and the installation of the equipment two days later are representative of Climate’s efforts to provide prompt and courteous service to all of our customers. Climate Heating and Air Conditioning Co.’s initial recommendation on 08/01/11 was that the Member purchase an entire new system. He declined to do that. Subsequent recommendations were that he contact the company that installed his indoor equipment to address the sweating that he was now experiencing. To the best of our knowledge, the Member declined to do that. Climate Heating & Air Conditioning Co. firmly believes that both recommendations were the correct course of action for the Member. The Member has requested that Climate Heating and Air Conditioning Co. buy back the equipment that was installed on 08/04/11. We declined to buy back the equipment indicating that the equipment installed by Climate Heating and Air Conditioning Co. was not the cause of the sweating. We have tried to explain this to the Member on several occasions. Were are not aware of anything else that will resolve the Member’s complaint."
