We have done business with them for years. They left the fuel line open and it ruined the engine. Before we took it, it ran fine. When we got it home we started it and a big black cloud of smoke came out. We even heard them say, "Did you close the fuel line." My husband went to talk to them and was very nice, he expressed his concern. They told us that it was an old mower and those things happen. They still charged us the $300 so we just left it there since it was useless now. They were not helpful at all and we have been using them for a long time. We even asked them to make a deal for us to give us a discount on a new mower and they wouldn't.
Description of Work: We took our riding mower in for them to perform pre-season service and sharpened blades and check the leaking tires.

Response from Brookside Equipment Sales Inc
As the store manager I was never approached about trading up. I would be willing to apply the amount of maint to service towards a comparable purchased unit. The remainder of the bill was for services requested such as tire repair, oil leaks, etc. The unit is in operating condition and can be used. The amount to be applied would be 177.50. The mower was brought in for several different repairs, including service. There is a fuel valve on it that was not installed by Brookside. The mower is 13 years old and has some internal normal wear. Performing one service cannot cause an issue with the engine, nor can fuel lines. The unit can be used the way it is but our recommendation is engine replacement.
