Actual name of company is ROOF SPOTTER, INC. I worked with the owner LeLand and, his son-in-law. This company had replaced the damaged asphalt roof on my daughter's house. She was satisfied with the work. The cost for replacing her roof was $13,070.00. Her roof is larger than my roof by nearly 300 square feet. I contacted Roof Spotter and requested them to repair my wood shingled roof. Originally I wanted a metal roof to replace the wood shingles. LeLand told me that within the next 2 years metal roofs would not be covered by insurance companies so he advised me to go with an asphalt roof. I followed his advice and had the same quality roof placed on my house as my daughter had on hers. Before a month had passed, we had a few days of rain. Two of my skylights leaked. I called Roof Spotter, and someone came out and covered the leaking skylights. The crew supervisor came to the house after the weather cleared and told me the skylights had been put in backward. He assured me the skylights were fixed. Due to a widespread drought, we had no real precipitation until this past winter. When the snow melted, one of the skylights leaked again. I had had the ceiling in the room repaired and now it was ruined again. When I received the bill from Roof Spotters, I was shocked to see I owed a total of $31,146. I called and asked for an itemized statement showing why my roof was so much more than my daughter's. What I got was a COPY of the paperwork my insurance adjustor sent to my mortgage company and me (I had given a copy of that report to Leland). Roof Spotter NEVER supplied me with an itemized statement showing how many squares of shingles he used, labor costs, or other installation costs. When I questioned LeLand as to why my roof cost nearly $20,000.00 MORE, than my daughter's house and hers was a larger job than mine, he said, "You got more back from insurance than she did." LeLand wanted me to replace an expensive roof with a less expensive product so he could bill and receive a larger amount. I was also supposed to have brand new skylights. I paid for them. They reused my old skylights. What a rip off. When is it OK to charge more just because someone has more money? It is NEVER ok to charge more just because someone has more money!!!!! Should the price we pay for services or items depend on how much money we have? Should there be more than one price? This company is a thief!!! They stole money from me by over charging and over billing. If you use them, you too can be their victim. Use a company you can trust, NOT Roof Spotter. I have the paperwork to prove all of this. I have pictures showing the old skylights. Keep your money in your pocket and out of theirs!!!!!
