Amarillo Chimney Sweep & Repair

This company was very responsive and offered Saturday service the same week I called. The technician was friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. The price was reasonable for the Sweep and I assume he did a good job (how would you really know?).
My issue is that I felt like they came in with a lower price than their competition for the Sweep so that they could way over-bid the price for repairs. I'm still getting bids, but already have one that's less than 1/2 of what he quoted. He also tried to sell me an expensive new Chimney cap that I really don't need and water-proofing for the chimney that I also don't need. Those things may be nice to have if you're willing to pay for them, but not necessary.
Others may be perfectly happy with this company, but if you're a value shopper like me, be cautious.

Mr. Rosas returned my initial call within 30 minutes and was able to go by the property that day and give me a quote of $285.00 for pointing-up the brick mortor. He did the mortor work within a couple of days and while he was there he noticed that the cloths dryer vent cap was damaged and he offered to replace it for the cost of the cap ($5.00) which he went and purchased. I also had him check the chimney and he recommended that it be cleaned at a cost of $100. While he was there I showed him a couple of spots he had missed with the mortor work. He thanked me for showing him the minor places he had missed and said if I found any others to let him know and he would come back and take care of it. Richard was honestly concerned about doing the job right. When he cleaned the chimney, which really did need it, he was neat and kept the area protected and clean. He actually left the house cleaned than he found it.
I would recommend Mr. Rosas to anyone who needs work done.

We had a flyer on our door for Amarillo Chimney Sweep and Repair on Monday, and I have needed to get chimney repairs done since we moved into our house in April. We had no chimney cap, the damper wouldn't close,and the chimney was filthy.
I called to get some basic cost information and Richard was willing to give me some ballpark estimates over the phone, which is always important to me as I consider it a sign of integrity and professionalism when a repairman can give price ranges based on teh value of the job, not based on what he thinks I can afford to pay.
Richard came by that morning and performed a free inspection. He provided photos he took with his phone that showed in detail the damage to the crown and explained why we would want to fix it now before it caused other problems with the masonry. He also gave us a very reasonable quote to redo our failing crown, install an additional chimney tile, and install a cap.
We accepted the estimate and scheduled the work. He showed up exactly when he said he would and performed the work. Also, he performed a thorough cleaning (it was really, really, bad), and he found the problem with the damper and fixed it at no additional charge. There was a piece of brick blocking the damper from closing at it was likely installed that way since the house was constructed in 1969! He got a grinder and busted it out and now our damper will close.
I could not be more pleased with the work and the service.
