Construction By Todd

There was a long delay in beginning the project. Once begun, the prices for various sub contracted items continued to change (i.e. the foundation, framework, etc.). Worst of all, he didn't pay his subcontractors which resulted in a lien placed against our property, in spite of the fact that he had been paid for the work. We ended up having to pay the subcontractor again to remove the lien. We also found out from two different subcontractors that Todd had padded the bill he presented to us in order to have extra money to pay subcontractors from previous jobs for which he had not paid them. (We later found out that one of his subcontractors had previously placed a lien against Todd's property to force him to pay a 25,000 bill.) This was in addition to charging us 15% of the total bill for payment of his "services" as general contractor. At times it would be weeks before he would return our calls, meanwhile no one was working on our garage. This guy is bad news and should never be used for a building project. I wish we would have found this out much sooner, before we had to get an attorney to deal with the mess he made.

IT WAS A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. HE DIDN'T PAY AT LEAST 4 SUB CONTRACTORS IN A TIMELY MANNER, SO THEY CAME TO US FOR THE MONEY. HE DID EVENTUALLY PAY THEM, BUT HE STILL HAS NOT PROVIDED US WITH A RELEASE OF LIEN. THERE WERE ALSO 3 SUBS WHO WERE GIVEN BAD CHECKS BY HIM. HE PROMISED THE JOB WOULD BE COMPLETED WITHIN 1.5 MONTHS, BUT THE JOB TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS. HE USED AN UNLICENSED/UNQUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO DO THE INITIAL WIRING AND TWICE WE HAD TO HAVE HIM BRING IN A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN TO DO REPAIRS ON THAT WORK. SUPERVISION OVER HIS WORKERS WAS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT AND THERE WAS A COMMUNICATION/LANGUAGE BARRIER WITH THE WORKERS. HE DID NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS BY US OR BY THE SUBS AND WORKERS HE USED. HIS QUALITY CONTROL WAS ALSO NON-EXISTENT, SO MUCH WORK HAD TO BE REDONE AS THE WORK PROGRESSED. THE SEWER HOOK UP WAS NOT IN PLACE UNTIL NEAR THE END OF THE PROJECT, SO WE COULD NOT USE THE FACILITIES THE ENTIRE TIME. PROMPTNESS, CLEANUP AND OVERALL SERVICE WAS LACKING.
