1. The sales contact was excellent. She was prompt in making the home inspection visit to measure the rooms. Very professional and knowledgeable about the flooring we were interested in. She offered helpful suggestions that helped in making our final decision.
2. The installers seemed be know what they were doing when installing the tile. The issue (s) that we have were in the area of neatness during the installation process:
a. On the first day, they did not put down any protective covering on the laminate flooring outside of the hall bath. This resulted in water stains from the tracked solutions spilt on the floors. Also, they placed a heavy portable air compressor directly on the laminate floor, resulting in a small dent/knick in the floor surface.
b. They had set up their tile cutting machines in the front yard. One of the installers unwrapped our exterior faucet that had been wrapped for frost protection. Since the faucet was connected to a flower bed and foundation irrigation system, it would have been nice if we were asked about the setup before they proceeded to try to hook up their hose. Luckily, nothing was damaged.
c. Dirty solution water was splashed on the front door surface while transporting to/from house. Water was also tracked on the unprotected laminate flooring during the install process.
To be fair, the installers did put down a protective cloth on the hall floors on the 2nd day (after talking with the sales associate about our disappointment about the install process so far). Also, the contract that we signed contained language that pointed out that there was certain situations where the contractor was not responsible for clean up. But I believe our installation complaint went over and above the stipulations in the contract.
Had it not been for the installation process experience noted above the overall grade for this project would have been an "A" instead of the "C" grade given.
