I did not previously have under counter/interior cabinet lights, so before I removed the old cabinets, I contacted Hamilton Electric (recommended by Hamilton Interior) to run the wiring for the new lights. After discussion regarding where the new lights would go, the electricians made temporary openings in the sheetrock and ran the wiring. After cabinets and countertops were installed, I contacted them to complete installation of the lights. Since they had never installed LED lights like mine (purchased myself at Rockwall Lighting, see Rockwall Lighting?s review for details) before, Mike Hamilton, owner of Hamilton Electric, handled the installation himself. Because my new cabinets extend to the ceiling, I did not want the drivers for the lights to be installed above the cabinets, so I wouldn?t have to remove moldings in order to reach components if something should go wrong. This created problems related to where to locate the drivers and how to run the wires. Mike did a most excellent job in hiding the drivers and the wires. The drivers for the under counter lights were hidden inside the lower cabinets. This created a small headache for running the wires to the upper cabinets. Mike is a most patient man! He fished wires through the tiniest of openings. Mounting the lights to the bottoms of the upper cabinets was an exercise in being a human pretzel. He was so exacting in the placement of the lights. We learned about the installation together from the additional documentation I had obtained from the manufacturer, American Lighting. Two of my cabinets have glass fronts, and the lights for the insides of those cabinets were installed in the top of the cabinets near the front, from inside the cabinets. For one of the cabinets, there was no choice except to mount the driver inside the cabinet, and I would have to hide it with something decorative. Mike had to work through one inch holes in the cabinet tops, where the lights would be mounted, to feed and manipulate the wires for the lights. The driver for the other glass-fronted cabinet could be hidden near the ceiling in the adjoining room (inside a ?box), but Mike still had to work through one inch openings to run the wires. I?m still amazed when I think about how much work installing those lights was. I am so pleased with the installation and love the lights. The under counter lights are dimmable but the lights inside the cabinets are not (by choice). Hamilton Electric, and especially Mike, did an excellent job of installation and cleanup.
Description of Work: I’m woefully behind in reviewing several companies that have done excellent work for me during my kitchen remodel in Dec 2011/Jan 2012. The kitchen remodel involved custom cabinets, granite countertops, LED under counter lighting, tile backsplash, small repairs, and installation of a new range hood, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. Five companies were involved in bringing my dream kitchen to life: Hamilton Interior Finishes, Walden Cabinets, StoneTex, Rockwall Lighting, and Hamilton Electric. Craig Hamilton of Hamilton Interior Finishes was general contractor for the job. Hamilton Electric performed the installation of the under counter and in interior cabinet lights. I am reviewing the other four companies under their own names, but I was extremely pleased with all involved!
