I contacted Stan to replace two 18 year old toilets.  The guest bathroom also needed tile repair which was under the existing toilet. I needed him to pull that toilet, have the tile repaired by another contractor, and Stan to return to then replace both toilets.  He was very flexible and worked with that schedule.



I selected the toilets from a plumbing supply house and had them delivered to the house. Stan came to the house to check out the situation, he came a second time to pull the hallway toilet and finally to do the install.  He used quality items: wax seal, water line, etc.

and explained exactly what he was doing and why.  He was very neat about his work and cleaned up both work areas upon completion.



Finally, I have found a forever plumber.  He is professional, experienced, trustworthy and I have great confidence in what he says. Stan is just a very nice person to work with.  I highly recommend Stan and Gem Plumbing!

Stan took my call before 8:00 in the morning and helped me get my water heater to stop heating, even though the water would not stop running. He was able to rearrange his morning schedule to get to my house and remove the old water heater. He put a new water heater in with an appropriate pan and drain. They were very professional, neat, cleaned everything up, and did it all in record time! I would call Stan again in a heartbeat when I need a plumber. He is very considerate of time and my concerns and very kind to me, even when I was a bit stressed out.. Would definitely recommend him for plumbing service and repairs!!

He was able to quickly determine the cause of the leak and was able to repair the problem within a few hours.

We had suspected a leak in either the shower or adjacent tub because of dampness along the grout. We also wanted new faucets and showerhead for shower and new faucets and spout for tub. We purchased the fixtures from Home Depot. The price for those is not included in this review. Plumbers had to remove sheetrock to replace shower valves. They also had to remove tub skirt to replace tub valves and investigate leak. There was indeed a hole in the faucet piping that had been spewing water when the tub was used. Plumbers fixed leak, installed valves and trim. The plumbers were polite, explained the process as they went, and worked as expeditiously as possible. They cleaned up the bathroom before leaving.
The plumbers suggested that I set a fan at the damp end of the tub and spray a bleach/water mixture in the area. We did that for a few days until the area was dry. They came back to re-install the tub skirt. Because the new showerhead was producing a much better flow (even with the water restrictor installed) than our old showerhead, we realized the the shower was not draining well. So, the plumbers also ran a cable through the shower and tub drains to clear blockage.

Stan was very easy to work with, responded promptly, answered questions, explained what needed to be done. He ran into a problem with the front hose hydrant and called me right away to discuss it before moving forward. The work looks great and performs as expected. No issues. I will definitely call on Stan the next time I need plumbing work.

They were just super, fantastic really. They came right out to help me. I thought that the price was really fair and the quality was great. They installed a new garbage disposal for me that I had purchased, and in the process they found the blocked hose. They went above and beyond for me.

This is the second time I have used GEM Plumbing. They returned my initial call within one hour and completed the work the very next day. I will use this company again.

I called Stan when I noticed that our hot water heater was leaking. He and his assistant came that day to inspect the space and provided a quote for the heater. Stan was able to re-schedule some of his next day appointments to get us hot water. They installed the new heater and updated the connections. They hauled off the old water heater. Stan showed me how the new water heater operated after the installation was complete. I was very satisfied with the work and the effort to get us hot water as soon as possible.

The removal of the old faucet and installation of the new one was a bit tricky because of the space. In addition, our city water meter's stop/start valve did not turn all the way off. However, they did an excellent job of making sure that the new faucet worked perfectly before leaving. Stan suggested that I contact the city about the water meter because it could be an issue in case of an emergency. I did that a few days later and the water meter was replaced by the city. I appreciated his recommendation.

I called to report a water leak inside that I thought was due to the outside faucet. The repair was able to be done without removing the outside brick (8/24/2011). However, without removing the brick and visualizing the connections, there was no way to identify a rusted steel washer connection. About a week later, Labor Day weekend, I noticed more water outside and inside. Prior appointments prevented Stan from returning immediately. He was very helpful on the phone troubleshooting what it could be, walking me through how to check the water meter and even telling me what another plumber/leak locater could do during the Holiday weekend. I opted to wait until he could return midweek (9/8/2011). The repair was a rusted washer connection slowly leaking. Stan repaired the faucet, cut out the drywall in inside closet (with my permission), removed wet insulation / some inside wood and cleaned up everything.
On the first visit, Stan checked the water heaters - made minor repairs after identifying potenital CO leaks. He advised me on a drain repair in another bathroom which I had completed on the second visit.
Regarding the cost on the second call, Stan waived the service call charge and charged for just one man x hourly rate ( rather than 2 men).
Overall, the service was TERRIFIC. This was the second time I used GEM plumbing. I am happy that I found an honest, knowledgeable plumbing business.

I will use these guys again, and highly recommend them. The team is a master plumber and a plumber's helper. These guys were recommended to me by Handy Dad, because the work needs required master plumber work. They have an excellent blend of professionalism and down home friendliness. They worked so well in concert, and were so efficient in their tasks. They completed the work so quickly, I am amazed. It is high quality work. They imparted good maintenance tips to me, and also educated me on the current plumbing my house has (eg: the fixtures in the showers are no longer made, yet they are extremely good, so, they recommend repairing what is there vs replacing with new). THey were happy to explain to me what they were doing and why, yet it did not slow them down. The cost of the labor and the supplies was quite a surprise to me: I was dreading how much it would cost, and then the receipt was so affordable. Stan, the owner, called me back almost immediately after my first call. He explained in detail the pricing, and how his team was set up. The GEM team came to my house within a day (my delay, not theirs - if it were an emergency I think they would have been there asap). They have a very good philosophy that they will repair something before they will replace it. I might have paid a little more than the norm, but I got a plethora of quality out of it. Both crews were very knowledgeable about what was needed to be done. They charged about $125 dollars an hour. However, the job assigned was very difficult and they got it done fast. I would use them again in the future.
