"Ms. [Member Name Removed], Once again I am very sorry for the situation you were put in and the huge financial burden, but as we have gone over, this is absolutely no fault of ours. We are not plumbers nor licensed inspectors and the foundation elevations in February of 2021 did not reflect elevations that indicate a plumbing leak. We were asked to provide a free evaluation of the foundation, which we did to the best of our ability and even now I cannot see why we would have done it any differently. It is not our responsibility to know or inquire if a house has upgraded their plumbing from cast iron to PVC. I have since asked you what the general inspector, who was paid to evaluate the property, said about the plumbing back in February. A general inspector is now required by law to tell you the type of plumbing you have. Your answer: "There was no discussion about cast iron pipes, by the home inspector, because it is a slab foundation home, which is concealed plumbing and therefore NOT included in the home inspection." As stated in the proposal we gave you in February of 2021, item 3, : "Contractor will not be responsible for repairing pre or post lift plumbing problems or deteriorated pipes to the structure". Our standard proposal, which you have the original copy of and I have since emailed you the carbon copy, also recommends plumbing tests. While I get your frustration, I do not understand why we are being blamed or being held responsible for plumbing issues other than the fact that we were ultimately the ones that found it. While I empathize with you, I cannot take ownership of a problem we did not cause, did not have the resources to see, and was not paid to find."
