He was a month late delivering the cabinets. My kitchen was torn up for a month during his installation, which we were told would take about a week. Part of the reason he took a month to install is because he was building the doors and drawer fronts as he went. He used poor quality wood, not stain grade Maple as requested. The wood he used was rough with cracks and large knots. None of my appliances fit properly, the built in oven has a 3" gap at the top. I paid extra money for a cabinet depth fridge which sticks out past the cabinets. I had cabinet doors in one corner that open only 45 degrees. We did not get the crown molding we asked for because he made the cabinets the wrong height. Drawer fronts and doors were either hung uneven or rubbed. Basically I had to hire someone to remake everything but the cabinet boxes. I had to paint instead of stain to cover up all the patch work that needed to be done. He lost his contract so he did not remember that the stain and appliance installation was included in his estimate and tried to charge us for it. When asked to fix things he told me I was too picky and he had done a great job. Lesson learned: go see someone"s work before you hire them. We just looked at pictures via email. Also they need to be insured and bonded so you have so recourse when things go terribly wrong.
Description of Work: We hire Daniel to build new cabinets for our kitchen remodel. He was given a design with dimensions, also given information on the dimensions/style of new appliances. We bought picked out hardware and stain our selves. He presented himself as experienced and capable of the job. We gave him over half of the estimate at the time that he took the job. His estimate was for 12,000 new cabinets, stained and appliances installed.
