BYCON

Description of Work: Bycon was hired as our General Contractor to build an addition above our garage. The scope of the work included demolition, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, siding, drywall, trim, and HVAC. Upon completion of half of the work, the owner of Bycon (Rick Byers) informed us that Bycon is abandoning the project. Approximately 40% of the work appeared to be complete and I had paid Bycon $24,000 for work in progress, 50% of work - out $4,000. Following the abandonment of the contract, I hired an independent certified inspector to review the project work that I had paid Bycon to complete. The inspection found: -Roofing and flashing was done improperly with improper materials and improper nailing causing gaps and holes in the roof. The entire roof will need to be replaced -Framing was incomplete and inadequate. -Ancillary damages caused by ByCon. During the construction period, ByCon failed to protect 'non construction areas' from damage. Consequently, drywall, paint and flooring damage occurred resulting in an estimated $5,000 in needed repairs. Bycon has declined to complete this work, remediate what they damaged or provide a refund.

Description of Work: Remodel 2 bathroom, and re-paint a bedroom. I have worked with this company on and off for about 30 years. Many of my experiences with this company have been positive up until this last one which turned out horribly. I hired him recently to do a remodeling job. He ended up not completing the job, and he ended up disappearing. Before he disappeared, while they were working they pulled the washing machine out too far and disconnected the appliance which caused an area to flood. He did offer to pay for the repair, but did not follow through because he disappeared.
