Hess gave me an estimate for a new a/c system installation. $5100 for a 13 SEER 2 ton Goodman. That was with a 10% discount.
I'm glad I shopped around! Cytech gave me an estimate of $3400 for a 14.5 SEER 2 ton Lennox.
So Cytech offered a far superior unit for $1700 less. Wow! So I ended up buying 2 systems from Cytech for two apartments that I own. They showed up on time and did an excellent job.
Hess does good work but they are far far too expensive. They know that most people don't know what an a/c system should cost. I learned that the hard way when I paid Hess too much 2 years ago when I had an a/c system installed for $4800.
Don't buy from Hess until they lower their prices to a reasonable level.
Never got the electricity savings. A year after I called for warrranty and the want to charge me another two thousand dollars. I did not accepted and I am just waiting to replace it completely with another provider.
Called McAllen refrigeration and because I did not purchased the unit from them they even regected to come and check it. So they are not a service oriente provider either.
Do not deal with this people.
Hess first came to check out and clean our central Heating & A/C around 15 months ago. They were available the next day, and they arrived at the start of the two-hour window I was told they'd arrive within. I was so impressed w/ their knowledge and professionalism that I agreed to sign one of their service contracts, which I've recently renewed for a second year. That first visit cost me around 400$, as something (a 2-pole conductor?) was recommended for replacement, and it was replaced at a discount, seeing as I agreed to sign a service contract, paying the full-year in advance (155$). The faulty part was shown to me in contrast with the replacement part. The tech stayed for around an hour, half of which consisted of him patiently answering my questions.A few months later, the outside unit started roaring and stopped cooling. It was a weekend. I called Hess, and they had someone over within one hour. The tech (the same one who'd come out the first time) fixed the problem within 30 minutes and charged me nothing. Maybe he was rectifying a previous mistake, but I was happily surprised at the speed and cost of the fix. A year later we had another regularly scheduled maintenance check. Once again the tech (a different one) arrived at the start of the two-hour window I'd requested. (He, like the previous tech, slipped on little shoe covers before entering the house.) Finding that the condensate drain line on the inside unit was nearly clogged, he took it outside and cleaned it out w/ a hose. (He showed me it before and after the work was done.) He also washed the coil and replaced the blower run capacitor (?) after showing me the used part. Total cost was 110$. (I now pay 19$ a month for my service contract.) Finally, last week, the outside unit started roaring so loudly it woke us up as we slept. I called Hess a couple days later, a tech came out that afternoon, fixed the problem in about 10 minutes, and charged me nothing.... Several years ago, using a different AC company, I was forced to go without AC for 11 summer days, waiting for parts and tech availability etc. Paying 19$ a month to eliminate such uncertainties is worth it, in my view.
