"Thank you for the excellent review. Please give us a call for any future HVAC needs you may have!"
My husband and I recently hired Extreme Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning to replace our large downstairs air conditioning and heating system. We are extremely happy and satisfied with the service we received from Extreme Comfort, and I wanted to go into more detail just so we can share how well we were treated and how considerate this company is.
To give us a bid for replacement of our air conditioning system, Extreme Comfort sent out Mike. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and he took the time to explain our options and what might serve us best. He took the time to answer our many questions and thoroughly explain everything. The price quote was quite fair, and we chose to purchase a full Carrier air conditioning and heating system through Extreme Comfort. Within a few days, Extreme Comfort came out and did the full installation in less than a day. The crew was quick and professional, and at the end of the day, we had a brand-new fully operational air conditioning and heating system. We are now ready for the few cold nights left and the hot summer months to come.
Extreme comfort also arranged the required city permits and inspection. During this inspection, the inspector approved of all of Extreme Comfort’s work. However, the inspector also noticed a significant pre-existing problem with our second story air conditioning unit (the one that Extreme Comfort had not been hired to work on). We were so pleased with our service so far, we called Extreme Comfort to come out and make the needed repairs on that one as well. Extreme Comfort came out that same day, figured out the problem, made the needed repairs to the secondary unit, and did it for no charge! We were floored by this as the repair took a couple hours. This was so considerate and kind given myself and my family were ill at the time and needed the problem fixed right away. Humberto, the repair technician, was thorough and took the time to explain everything. We could not have been happier.
Extreme Comfort really took care of us. When it comes time for any additional AC & heating work and to replace the upstairs ac and heating system, we will not hesitate to call them. It was nice to find such a responsive, caring and quality company."Thank you for the wonderful review. We are happy you are so pleased with your new system. If you have any questions or experience any problems, please do not hesitate to give us a call."
The salesperson that came out spent a good amount of time going through my house looking at all the air intake ducts and going over all my options. There was no pressure to sign and they didn't sell me a unit I didn't need.
The other 2 quotes I received were for a similar unit for 9000.00, Extreme Comfort gave me a quote of 7100.00.
The installers were very professional and once they arrived they worked non-stop to complete the installation. Once the installation was complete they went over everything they did before they left.
What impressed me the most was the salesperson actually came to my house while the installers were working to check and make sure everything was going according to my agreement. This was done on a weekend.
I have dealt with a lot of AC companies over the years and by far this is the best experience I have ever had.
I highly recommend this company to anyone that needs a new unit or just a service call.
"Thank you for the great review. We are glad you are enjoying your new system. Please let us know if you have any questions or problems that may come up in the future."
I have a tiny house that doesn't need a huge system and won't benefit much from the added efficiency of a unit with a SEER rating higher than 14. One of the other companies who gave me an estimate only offered SEER 16 or greater. They were immediately scratched from my list both because they lacked SEER 14 systems and because their price was almost $10,000.
The other company who gave me an estimate also recommended a SEER 16 system at the cost of $9,000 even though they offered SEER 14 systems.
When Extreme Comfort came to bid, they were honest in saying that I won't save much money on a higher efficiency unit in a house that's less than 1,200 square feet. I already knew this, but they laid it out stating that a SEER 16 unit would save me only about $50 per year over a SEER 14 unit. They recommended a cheaper option: a SEER 14 system.
Then I asked whether I should go with the more expensive Trane system or spend less on a Carrier. Once again, Extreme Comfort told the truth. They said they far prefer the cheaper system, as their experience informs them that the Carrier is more reliable even though it's cheaper. The quote was approximately $6,000.
So even though my mantra of "Sometimes the cheap comes out expensive" was reverberating in my brain, I decided the only prudent thing to do was to sign the Extreme Comfort contract.
I signed the contract at noon on a Monday, they had a city permit by 5 pm that same day, and workers were at my house the next morning at 9 AM to begin work. All the workers were friendly, seemed experienced and knowledgeable, and all of them spoke English very well.
They replaced my inside unit, my outside unit, and all of my duct work in the attic. It took them until about 3 pm in the afternoon to complete work. Even the salesman came by during the installation to make sure everything was going well. They tested the system and allowed me to take my time inspecting their work. I don't claim to be an AC installation expert, but the work looked great to me.
The next day, the city came to inspect, and the work passed inspection.
Since the installation, both the heating and AC have worked well. The true test comes this summer, but I have a one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty I hope I will not have to use.

Copied from the BBB Complaint Case # 91345108:
On Sept 19th, we went to the Home Depot (Store # 6502, Allen Texas, 972-359-0336) to ask for assistance with an AC issue. While we were there, Home Depot customer service recommended and called an AC company called Extreme Comfort -- http://ExtremeComfortAC.com -- 972-234-2336.
My husband told the AC repair company's service manager, Marc Burke (over the phone at Home Depot), and the AC repairman, Mike Adcock (in person), that roughly 5 weeks ago, on August 14th, he had replaced the "Dual-rated Run Capacitor" with the original-rated 40uF/5uF capacitor (which he bought from eBay for $4.00). It worked fine for about 4 weeks, then the AC started blowing hot air again.
At the house, when the repairman opened the control panel, it was immediately apparent to both him and my husband that the replacement part had failed. The repairman asked my husband if he wants him to replace it? My husband asked how much would it cost him -- again mentioning that it was a $4 capacitor. The repairman replied "$2.49"
____
About 15 minutes later, the huge repair man (who had commented earlier about going postal and shooting everyone) wrote a bill with a service charge of $69.00 (refusing a valid, unexpired coupon -- covering Trip Charge, First 1/2 Hour Diagnostic AND First pound of R-22 -- for $29.95) *** PLUS *** $249.00 (for the $8.17 capacitor -- Home Depot price, one year warranty), which could be bought for $4.00 on eBay. The total bill presented was $318.00, when it should have been $38.12 ($29.95 + $8.17).
My husband called the Home Depot (Allen Store) the next day to complain. He explained to four (4) different people before being able to talk to the store's Assistant Manager directly to get some assistance. Home Depot (Nicole -- Installation Dept) was unwilling to help, and defended the AC company's right to charge exorbitant fees. The Allen Store's Asst Mgr called the AC company, but they just blew him off.

Notes:
* We should only have been charged $38.12. We request a refund of $279.88.
* The repairman also failed to have the work authorization signed before commencing work; and forced my husband to sign it afterwards.
* On the work order, the repairman used his manager's license number -- as verified with the TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation).

Three installers showed up at 8:30 Monday morning (Earle had given a time window between 8:30 - 9:30) and were courteous and professional. Upon completion, they reviewed everything with me. Spaces were cleaned to perfection. Everything was back in place. You would never know that major work had been done. The installers (before leaving) also scheduled an appointment for the city inspector to review the installation.
When doing research on these new systems, it appears that good installation might be more important than the actual units you buy. I have no doubt that my system was installed well and that I received great value for the dollars spent! I will definitely recommend Extreme Comfort Air Conditioning and Heating and will continue using them myself for ongoing maintenance!

"We appreciate your comments and are happy that Mike was able to answer your questions. He is our service manager and has been with us a long time. We look forward to providing you with the same quality service in the future."
"On September 9, 2008 Extreme Comfort Air Conditioning changed out 4 condensers and 2 evaporator coils for $15,875. On May 5, 2009 we changed an electronic damper system for $1,750. Then on February 5, 2010 we gave an estimate for a 3 ton furnace which was not installed. On May 6, 2010 the customer wanted a diagnostic for a problem he was having. Joey, our installation manager, diagnosis a bad circuit board on the 3 ton furnace which we did NOT install. Joey gave an estimate to replace the Lennox circuit board for $695. The customer had his friend install the circuit board instead and he connected it to the zone damper system which caused the zone damper system to malfunction. The customer then called Extreme Comfort AC and wanted us to fix the zone damper system at no charge. It was out of labor warranty and his friend's installation caused the malfunction. This was explained to the customer by the owner of Extreme Comfort. The other equipment was installed two years earlier and there was no labor warranty. We did not install any of this customer's furnaces. Both the customer and Extreme Comfort came to a mutual agreement that we would not do business with each other. He could call any other company and the parts could be under warranty. The customer did not understand that we did not have any liability once his friend worked on the equipment. Extreme Comfort AC upheld the labor warranty for 4 condensers and 2 coils which we installed for the customer and we pulled the Southlake permit for which the install was green tagged by the city to meet all codes. We have not been to this customer's house since May 10, 2010. This customer called our company on April 2, 2015 requesting a service call. Because of the past mutual agreement we declined to run the service call and reminded the customer his equipment could still be under warranty and another AC company could do any repairs. He would need to verify with Trane if the coils or condensers are still under warranty after 7 years. This is what has prompted the above review. We regret that this situation has occurred. We do everything we can to provide the best service to all of our customers."
