Here is a copy of the exact message that I received:
"The total cost on the repair is $249.99, this includes parts and labor. It?s also backed by a 90 day warranty! Most of the device we repair can be fixed on the same day. However, if we need to order the part/s to be installed it may take around 1 - 2 business days."
Problem 1: When I arrived at the store and showed them the email containing the quote, they said: "Oh no, that is a mistake. We can't do it for that. That is a quote for a Samsung Galaxy, not a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +". I said: "As you can see in the email, I said it was an S6 Edge+ and even included a picture of the exact phone." They said, "It was a mistake. We can't do it for that much, but we can do it for $316.62." The store slogan is "Same day repairs while you wait - we keep most parts in stock", so I figured the quote was no longer the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either, and I was in a hurry. It was nearing the close of the business day, so I gave them my phone expecting to receive it back the next day. This is a classic BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM!
Problem 2: Nobody called the next day, so I called them the following day. They said "We had to order the part", so I said "When will it be in?". They said they didn't know, but they would call me as soon as they knew. What? Why would they have to order the part when they supposedly "keep most major brand parts in stock"? A Samsung Galaxy is not a rare model of phone. I believe only the Apple iPhone sells more, but they didn't have the part?
Problem 3: By the SEVENTH day, I still never received a call, so I called them. They told me "We had to order the part from China, so it will be at least another two weeks before we get it." Why did they have to order it from China? And why has "1 - 2 business days" now turned into 3 to 4 weeks? Why wasn't I informed or asked and given the opportunity to take my business elsewhere? I immediately cancelled my order, and now I'm back to square one.
This is a terrible company. Don't make the same mistake. Take the time to use Angie's List, even for something so seemingly simple as a phone repair.
