"It was our pleasure to help Luna feel better! Thank you for the opportunity and the kind words."
Unfortunately, our Boxer has allergies and we need extra items for his care, medicated shampoo, occasionally prescriptions, etc. Dr Price goes over all the options, to let me make an informed decision on treatment. She spends a lot of time thoroughly looking him over and noting anything we should be concerned with and suggestions for care. She sends us home with a detailed instructions for care once home. we are very please with the care we have received. We moved here about 7 months ago Dallas metro area and the price here are comparable to what we've had in the past.
"It is our pleasure to help Cooper be more comfortable. Thank you for the opportunity and the kind words!"
Both dogs were sick and would not eat. We told them we were tight on money. They gave us an estimate and had us leave both dogs there. They ran tests and told us one had a cancer tumor in his stomach and probably wouldn't make it very long so we talked and decided to have him put to sleep. They let us have time with him to say goodbye before the doctor came in to give him the shots. They were very kind and humane. They gave him anesthesia and then after he was at peace they gave him the final shot; he went peacefully with no pain.
They sent the other dog home. She had colitis and periodontal disease. The gave us some bland food and pills to take home and give to her, then return the next week for labs and more meds. We could not get her take the pills or eat. We thought we could get her to eat through a dropper. It was no good. We could not get her to eat or take the medicine. She finally got so she couldn't walk or stand up. We made and appointment to have her put to rest. They let us keep her to love all day long. At 1700 we took her in and they gave her the first shot to relax her and she relaxed and seemed to be at peace and then they gave her the final shot. We got to stay with both of them so they would not go alone. The personnel and doctor showed the most respect and kindness to us and our kids. I would highly recommend them; and will use them again .
"We are so saddened by the loss of Poopsie and Dutchess. It is always heartbreaking to lose our pets; please accept our condolences, and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time...."
The actual cost was within a very few dollars of the estimate - NO surprises!
I was comfortable with their care and treatment of "Killer", and he seems to have
tolerated it well. He's back to his normal self, without the nasty "dog breath" that he had
prior to his appointment. Although they are a bit pricey, they are worth the cost! My wife
says, "You get what you pay for" and she is right, Windmill Animal Hospital is our 'Vet of Choice'
in Abilene, TX. Thanx so much to Dr.s Barnhart and Price, and their entire staff!
"Thank you for the kind words. So glad to hear that "and it smells good too" now applies to "Killer's" breath! And, you hit the nail on the head with our style of practice. The cost of individual products and services provided by Windmill Animal Hospital are VERY competitive compared with other veterinary practices in the area. However, because the doctors and staff at Windmill Animal Hospital are careful to discuss each individual patient's needs with the owner, whether ill-pet or well-pet, we tend to provide a more comprehensive style of patient care; this, commonly, will add up to a bit more than where the pet's needs are evaluated in a more haphazard, assembly-line type manner. If a pet has a list of health care needs, we are always happy to break it into "bite-size " bits, prioritizing the issues to help protect the family budget. Again, thank you for the review, and we look forward to serving you and "Killer" in the future!"
"Thank you for the kind words. We are glad to hear Cody is "good to go!""
"Thank you so much for the kind words. It was our pleasure to care for Buddy! We look forward to seeing the whole gang in the future for well-pet check-ups!"
"Thank you for the review. The cost of individual services provided by Windmill Animal Hospital are very competitive compared with other veterinary practices in the area. However, because the doctors and staff at Windmill Animal Hospital are careful to discuss each individual patient's needs with the owner, whether ill-pet or well-pet, we tend to provide a more comprehensive style of patient care; this, commonly, will add up to a bit more than where the pet's needs are evaluated in a more haphazard manner. In addition, the veterinary practice at Dyess AFB, available to all military families, is substantially subsidized by the federal government; the prices for services and pharmaceuticals they provide are commonly well below what a private practice could realistically do. In order to do an apples-to-apples comparison, consumers need to compare private veterinary practices to each other, rather than to the Dyess AFB practice. The commitment we at Windmill Animal Hospital have for our clients and patients is that a detailed estimate is provided, and approved, BEFORE we render services. That way, we make sure our clients understand and are comfortable with what health care is proposed for their pets, before we do so. If any of our clients have any hesitation or concerns with any of our services, we are always pleased to work with the client in any way we can until a mutually agreeable plan is developed. Concerning the boarding: it is our understanding that this client wanted her pet to be able to play with our other boarders while a guest at Camp Windmill. Unfortunately, not all pets are as well socialized as “Pony”, so there could be altercations between pets that do not know each other. We are responsible for each of our guests’ safety, and cannot take the risk of injury from playing with others. Thank you for taking the time to read our response."
"Thank you for the kind words...it was a pleasure to help Tucker! What a sweetie!"
"Thank you for the kind words. It was our pleasure to take care of "Mysti" and "Neko". We also look forward to providing "Emi" and "Hana" with the "Best Pet Care Anywhere"! Again, thank you for taking the time to review your experience with Windmill"
"When the client was given the first estimate at pet drop off, it was emphasized to the owner that if there were any changes to the estimate, he would be contacted...he responded by saying "don't bother, just get it done". The original estimate was with the understanding that the patient would allow her ears to be treated without sedation. When treatment began, the dog 's ears were hurting her so bad that she would not allow any treatment. The decision was made that she would indeed need complete sedation, and all the accompanying precautions, to properly treat the infected ears. A second estimate was prepared that included the sedation and associated charges. SEVERAL UNSUCCESSFUL attempts were made to contact the client to discuss the additional treatment needed. Because the client had emphasized the urgency of treatment completion time, the decision was made to continue, based on his comment made at drop off - "Don't bother, just get it done". After treatment, her ears were so inflamed from all of the hair removal and cleansing, that the decision was made to keep her sedated until such time as the ears had a chance to calm down from the hair plucking and cleansing. When the owner arrived to pick up his dog, the Receptionist position was being temporarily filled with a Veterinary Technician, not a Receptionist (due to illness and scheduling)..and unfortunately her training with client interaction was not complete (her choice of words was probably not as good as it might have been). The client was not happy with the final charges, even though he had earlier said "just get it done". Offers were made for the client to speak with the doctor concerning the charges, but the offers were declined because the owner was in a hurry. In an attempt to rectify this situation, we made the offer to refund charges back to the original estimate, even though far more treatment was required than listed in the original estimate, and he had originally stated to "just get it done" concerning being informed of any additional charges needed to treat his dog. The client ACCEPTED this offer, but then continued with the bad reviews....go figure... Thank you for taking the time to read this response..."
"Thank you for the kind review, [member name removed]. It was our pleasure to provide veterinary care for "Duchess" and "Poopsie"! Also, thank you for your comments concerning the front desk. Please be assured that we always try to have our front desk staffed properly for what ever arises. However, sometimes walk-ins, telephone calls for future appointments, etc. all happen at one time, and upset our normal rhythm of the lobby and reception area. We now have a front desk staff of three, and are staffed to where there is VERY seldom not at least two receptionists on duty to handle whatever situation arises. And for those times when we do get behind, please feel free to use our hotspot (Windmill Guest) to catch up on your email, texting or just surfing the web. Again, it was our pleasure to serve you...Thank You"
