Hair Salons/Barbers
$60

This was one of the worst experiences in a hair salon EVER.  I used to be a hairstylist, and still hold a license, though I haven't worked in the field for 25 years.  I was assigned to Marko for a hair cut.  I was not shampooed twice, which is unprofessional, and the shampoo itself was half-@$$ed.  As for the trim, I told him NOT to use thinning shears, a razor, or any chipping or nipping technique at all.  Just straight up scissor cut.  He said, "I don't want to hear about what you DON'T want, tell me what you DO want."  I showed him a picture of myself when my hair is like I like it and went through the whole explaining thing.

He used thinning shears regardless of my protests, trying to explain why he HAD to use them; (hello....I have a cosmetologist license and know whether I "need" thinning or not.)  He barely heard a word I said about ANYTHING.  He was an arrogant know-it-all that was completely tuned out of anything I had to say.  It appeared to me he used a Tony & Guy type of cutting method (I can't say for sure), which I had some training in and I always thought this method was a whole lot of overblown hype and a lazy way of cutting hair, frankly.  Whatever the case, the haircut was not a good one, and he didn't check his work very thoroughly.  I had to recut the entire thing myself when I got home.  It was longer on one side by a lot, which I noticed in the salon, yet he did not.  Maybe because he was consistently disinterested.  My self-done haircut improved things greatly, but will be beyond fixing completely until at least 2 months of growing out.

Now for the rest.  He blow-dried it and it looked embarrassingly horrific.  When he was done blow-drying he said, "Now, what do you want next?  You're the boss."  I told him I needed to borrow a curling iron to fix it or if he could curl it himself or something. He let neither of these things occur, because he decided he was finished and that was that.  He told me I didn't "need" to curl it because I was dressed casually.  Well, ok, jerk. He insisted the whole time it was cut like it was supposed to have been cut and it looked like it was supposed to look. Talk about arrogant!  So I just wanted to get the heck out of there as fast as possible because I was sick of his condescending attitude and super embarrassed to be seen. When I did walk out to pay, even the receptionist looked at me and I could read her facial expression like a book.  It said, "Poor lady's hair looks terrible now."

So it was my fault for not checking prices before booking the appointment.  To my shock, the cut cost $55.00.  I couldn't believe it.   I have had a few very bad haircuts in my life.  This one was not even the most horrific one I've ever gotten (it was bad, though), but the way this guy treated me is what makes my blood boil.  I have never seen anything like it and cannot imagine him having much of a clientele.

The salon itself was clean and attractive enough.  The receptionists had a very "clinical" demeanor, but were nice enough and at least acted professional, if not snooty.

My take on the salon is that it is a pretentious salon that hires pretentious cosmetologists and charges prices they are delusional for thinking they are worthy of.  Contrary to their own opinion, these people aren't rocket scientists nor Stylists to the Stars.  I can't recommend this salon.
