"Thank you it's been a pleasure serving you"
"Thanks for thi kind words. Look forward to serving you for years to come,"
This company needs to get with it. I had a problem with my furnace working upstairs. The home warranty is in effect so I was forced to call these guys as that's who Old Republic goes with.
They come out the first time and say that they found the problem and the burner assembly need to be replaced. So they order a part and then come back a few days later. This is the second time someone took off work by the way to be there. The guy then says the first tech is an idiot and that's not what was actually wrong with it, its just a gas valve. They of course had to order it, and they sent another guy out with this part. This is now the third visit.
Now today, its not what was diagnosed the first or second vist, its something else. They now say that the valve falied and the house doesn't have enough gas pressure and they want the gas company to come out.
This is the most screwed up company I have ever dealt with and will pay out of my pocket to a company that can actually fix a problem vs. waste my time.
Thanks,
David
Home Warranty of America sent me their "VIP Service Provider" after having a terrible experience with a previous provider. They assured me this one would be hassle free. Initially things were great...
They sent out a guy called Glen to check a couple of things on one of my houses - he really didn't have to do too much, apart from clean the system. This went off without a hitch and I was really pleased, thinking I had finally found a good one. They were very communicative, and I always knew what was happening and when they would be arriving.
THAT was until I had them actually do some real AC work that an HWA claim sent them for. When the Air Handler upstairs needed work, they were the opposite of good to work with. They initially identified the problems very quickly and said they would need to replace the drain pan and reinstall the air handler. They said it may be a few days to get the pan built and installed. I thought this was reasonable. It was over a month before they got the job started. They always had excuses, like others jobs had come up that were emergencies, it was summer and everyone needed help, or they kept having to get rid of bad employees and they were working around the clock to catch up on jobs. There was always an excuse and it was always someone else's fault. I would tolerate delays up to a point, however their lack of communication and failure to give me a reasonable date of installation. Actually they gave none until I hounded them daily to get it done. I fear had I not done this, I would still be waiting.
Well... Glen eventually came by and installed the pan and refitted the unit. This should have been the end of it. Think again, Batman!
THAT is when the fun began. HE FORGOT TO CLEAN THE DRAIN LINES OUT AFTER HE INSTALLED THEM AND DID NOT INSTALL THE DRAIN PAN PROPERLY. This caused water to back up and cause flooding again. My ceiling below was soaked through and eventually caved in, resulting in $700 of work needing to be done to remove the damaged drywall, dry out the beams and subfloor, re-insulate the ceiling and rehang the drywall.
He came back on a Sunday to "correct" his work. Kudos for the Sunday sacrifice, sure. But that should not have been necessary if the job was completed correctly the first time.
I mentioned the drywall to Glen and he simply avoided the topic and said, "I am just glad we got it fixed (AC) and that you are satisfied".
No Glen. I am not satisfied. I am not at all satisfied. You cost me over a month in delays on my house repairs and then $700 in ceiling repairs due to your mistakes.
I would be OK with them cleaning my HVAC because it is really hard to screw that up, but I would NEVER be OK with them ever performing comprehensive repairs or installations of any HVAC system if this is a standard experience with them.
10/2 Update: I thought we were happily ever after so I paid several thousand dollars to replace my floors upstairs, have had the ceiling below it replaced and painted and was getting on with normal life again. The handler was cooling fine, except the handler has gurgled every time the AC shuts off. Not a deal breaker I thought because everything was working. It seemed odd though. Definitely not normal.
It seemed a little cold last night, so we switched the heating on... in the same unit that Glen installed. It does not blow warm air. Not even warmish air. It in fact blows cold air and cooled the top floor like a charm. I took a look at the unit and there is a puddle of water next to the copper insulated lines and the coils inside the unit are frozen.
This is enough to send me crazy and honestly I am furious. Are their any good HVAC guys in Nashville that A LOT of people like? That are communicative, punctual, thorough, professional and take complete ownership of their workmanship (and ummm... mistakes)?
