If I could give zero stars, I would. Our experience with Jernigan Home Inspections in Tullahoma, TN, has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. Since closing on our home, we've uncovered a long list of serious issues that should have been identified during the inspection—many of which could have been major negotiating points or fixed prior to purchase had we known about them. To name just a few: Caulking issues around nearly every exterior window Non-functioning bathroom ventilation fans in every bathroom An improperly mounted interior garage door (missing hardware entirely) Poor sealing around both front and back doors A completely clogged upstairs AC unit that required 12 gallons of water to be drained from the overflow pan Exterior gas and AC lines not sealed, leading to insect and moisture issues inside the home And unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. What’s even more troubling is that the inspector reportedly discussed some of these issues with the seller—and ultimately removed his recommendations based on their opinion that the concerns didn’t need to be addressed. This is completely unprofessional and a serious breach of trust. A home inspector’s role is to be objective and advocate for the buyer’s best interest, not adjust their findings to appease the seller. The level of oversight (or outright negligence) in this inspection is inexcusable. If you’re buying a home in Tullahoma or the surrounding areas, do yourself a favor and avoid Jernigan Home Inspections. This experience has cost us significantly in repairs and peace of mind. This business should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for their substandard practices.
