BAKER'S ELECTRIC SVC

We contacted Mr Baker in October. It took 3 attempts at contacting him before we received a response for a quote. Evidently I should have taken this an a clue as to what the future would hold dealing with him. We did finally meet with Mr Baker in November and agreed on a price of $3000-$3500. After repeated delays by Baker Electric and our threatening to fire him and go somewhere else, the electric was finally installed, albeit two weeks late. 
After installation, Baker Electric left a huge hole approximately 3 feet deep and 6 feet across, along with the trench for the underground utilities unfilled. I had to go back and finish this myself since it was apparent Baker Electric was not coming back. Approximately 2 weeks later we received an invoice for $6625 with no explanation as to why the amount billed was twice as much as the agreed upon quote. Further, the bill stated that he completed work that was never done by him, but rather handled by another company since we could not depend on him to complete the job. His delays also caused us to have to pay movers twice because we could not move in on time, and pay for hotels and meals for almost a week.
We offered him $2500, which we felt was fair based on the original quote due to our added expenses (which exceeded $1500), his not finishing the installation by filling in the holes and trench, and for billing us for services he did not complete. He is now suing for the full $6625, court costs, and attorney fees.
I could NEVER recommend using Baker Electric for any project. This is only sad because we used him in the past with no problems. Evidently he does not care about treating returning customers failrly and standing by his quoted price.

The level of quality, the service, and the followthrough with Baker Electric is outstanding and I am continuing having them do additional work. Mark Baker, continually checks in, has a tremendous crew, and I would highly recommend them to anyone, having a major or minor electrical need. Their cost is very reasonable and the quality is superior. From getting the permit, to accomodating our changes and not taking advantages of the changes to overcharge was greatly appreciated.
