The first day a crew of two showed up. I welcomed them to my home, asked them to start in the living room and asked them to please take great care to protect my brand new Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors. I then went to my home-office to relax and get out of their way.
About two hours later I hear the lead man complaining to his helper that he wouldn't accept a job like this if he was running things. I thought now was a good time to see how things were going and I didn't much appreciate the remark either. I walk in the living room and there is water and what looks like cottage cheese running down my bare walls. There was plastic and a tarp thrown here and there partially covering my floors and where the floor was bare, there were piles of wet popcorn ceiling laying on it. I contacted Russell. He told them to stop and clean it up. He told me the fellow was his best painter and didn't want to do the job in the first place. He said he was sending him to work on a project in the Ridges nearby and apologized. Seems, that damaging my home and upsetting me, was just a means for being reassigned.
Day two: No one shows up. No call. Nothing.
Day three, another fellow showed up with a helper. This guy spends the next three days, till Friday, working no more than a few hours a day. He would show up at say, noon, work three hours and then simply leave. Or show up at 9:30 and never come back from lunch. By Friday, I tell Russell that this situation is unbelievably unacceptable and that my home is being trashed. He tells me that this particular worker isn't returning his his calls. Now, I'm thinking "what the h*** am I dealing with here?" Russell tells me, all will be taken care of next week.
My house has plastic, mud, and plaster sanding residue EVERYWHERE. It's into my new floors, all over my leather furniture and you can't move in the house without walking through it.
Monday comes...... 9 AM.... 10 AM... 11 AM. Russell drops by like we're old pals to say hi. Says he's real sorry but what he is going to do is return a little later and personally finish the drywall work, including filling a hole in the ceiling and then in the morning (Tuesday) have two female wall texture geniuses work their magic on my ceilings.
Russell never comes back.
Next morning he shows up with two ladies ready to spray texture on ceilings that haven't been fully prepared yet. I ask him what the h*** he is thinking. He tells me it's all good. It'll look great! It looks like crap. He goes to his truck and fetches a tube of acrylic caulk, squirts it into the hole in my ceiling, spreads a thin coat of plaster over it and says "there, fixed". I lost my mind. My wife thought I had come unhinged and told me to sit and calm down. Russell leaves.
I told the two women to wait. I mixed a batch of fast setting plaster and spent the next two hours mudding and sanding.. I pushed the caulk up into the ceiling and fixed it properly.
Next day (Wednesday) 9 AM.... 10 AM..... 11:30 AM.... Russell shows up with a man who he tells me is a painter. By an astonishing miracle, it turns out that he is. He spent Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning at my home doing a fine job painting my ceilings. He had a personal issue to deal with Thursday after lunch, so I took the liberty of taking down the plastic, pulled up the paper and when he returned he helped me drag it and Russell's tools outside, where I bid him a nice day and closed the door.
The job was to do most of my house. They got the ceilings in the living room, a small bedroom and a short hallway completed before I called a halt to this circus. The tape was on the walls so long, it took the paint up with it when it was removed. My home is a disaster. My biggest regret is that I didn't fire this company the first day.

They did a good job. Will use them again and would recommend to others.
