plus deal ? she told him no ? so he comes ? up with a $385.00 deal of a life time. (My wife has not concept of how much area 600 Sq. Ft. looks like) My wife tried to call me at work; however I was unavailable ? Once I was able to call back he had convinced her then pressured her into the $385.00 price. He was already done by the time I called. Once I got home my wife was still believing that 950 Sq. Ft. was a lot of carpet until I showed her another competitor?s coupon with a $168.00 for six rooms and clearly stated that 250 Sq. Ft. was their room size. Quick math for $168.00 I could have had 1500 Sq. Ft. of carpet cleaned. This person scammed my wife took and they failed to honor their coupon. We had other thins done -- nothing to double the price. Their coupon is a scam (unless you live in a doll house) since they are taking a flat whole house rate and converting it into a $0.275 Sq. ft. rate which they said is their normal rate. Of course their Invioce is from an out-of-state company
"We give prices up front in writing, and you do not pay unless you are 100% Satisfied at the end of the service. We pride ourselves on being the best in the industry, not the cheapest. After reviewing your invoice, it looks like your wife had two area rugs cleaned as well."
business opening her d*** mouth because she did not have a horse in this race. He accused my wife of, "Jacking Up {his} words." At this point my wife began to cry and that this was her Mother's Day present and that her whole house
being in the living room and dining room with her child sleeping on the couch was less than ideal. He stated that it
would be an inconvenience to get his technician out today, and that it was her only option. He apologized for screaming
and yelling by stating, "I am a Southern raised boy and testosterone driven." At that point, my wife was
just glad to see him leave. Upon finding this out, I contacted the office looking to speak to whomever was Tommy's
boss. I was told this would be Chaz and he would contact me. Two or so hours later I contacted again only to be told that he had left after being told I wished to speak with him. I left my cell phone number while the lady on the phone proceeded to give me attitude as though we had done something wrong. I would never treat anyone the way my wife and mother-in-law were treated. I am appalled at the fact this was allowed to happen. All we wanted was for them to honor their guarantee and be done.
"After contacting our office, [Member name removed] is now 100% satisfied with the service that was completed."
She stated that the rooms would be $25-$30 per room. Since I have children and pets, I had specifically asked if there was an additional charge for deep cleaning. Since I had been previously quoted by other companies, I was aware that there are sometimes additional charges for deep cleaning. The telemarketer specifically stated there would be no extra charge. All rooms are $25-$30 a room. The initial carpet cleaning was scheduled for Wednesday, June 19, 2013. However, a representative arrived on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. I told him that I was on my way out the door and was not expecting him until the next day. To which he responded, he would come in and perform the job and lock up on his way out. I refused and asked for a reschedule.
On Tuesday, June 25,2013, at 11:15am, the technician arrived began explaining the different package levels of cleaning. I explained that this is not what I had been told. I placed the first call at approximately 11:20am. I spoke with a male secretary who said his supervisor would call me back. At 11:27, I received a call back from the secretary stating that his supervisor was in meetings all day until between 3 and 4 pm. I asked him to have his supervisor call me because I needed to get the price of this cleaning straightened out. Reese then stated, “Let’s just forget about all this and move on with the cleaning. All of that is in the past.” So, I agreed to proceed with the cleaning.
Unfortunately, I realized that my bedroom had not been cleaned as well as the rooms downstairs. He was also packing up his equipment when I asked if he would do the stairs. He then spent 5 minutes cleaning the stairs. Before I signed the contract saying that I was satisfied, I decided to inspect the stairs. They were still dirty. Reese then stated, “We don’t have the tools to do the side of the stairs only the tops. Most homes don’t have carpet on the fronts of the stairs only the tops.” I said, “You have got to be kidding me. You are only cleaning the tops?” I could tell he was angered at this point. I told him that I wanted to speak with a supervisor. He said that information was confidential. I said, “Then, where is the office?” He also said, “That is confidential.” I said that I could look it up on the internet, he told me to “go ahead but give me the check.” I told him “These business tactics are unfair. You quote one price over the phone, there is no one to speak with regarding a complaint, and now you only clean the top of the stairs.” He responded, “We may do things unethical, but I love my company. We are certified by the Better Business Bureau. You are the first one to complain.” I told him “ Things would go much more smoothly for you in the future if you would just be honest.” I gave him the check so that he would leave.
9 calls were made before speaking with the supervisor
The initial quote was ½ of the actual pricing
In June 2013, Stanley Steamer and Sears say a standard room is $300 sq ft.
Our rooms did not exceed 225 square feet, 157 sq feet was actually cleaned.
We were told our rooms were double the "normal size"
There is no national “standard size room” as defined by the 2006 IRC- International Residential Code
There is no certification by the IICRC- Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification as June 2013
Not certified by the Better Business Bureau as June 2013
There is already one complaint on file with the Spring Hill location and 9 complaints in the Alabama location- as of June 2013
Did not apply carpet protectant- so could not possibly charge for deep clean or ultimate package
Website states- cleaned to your satisfaction or its free as of June 2013
End result: We did some internet research about the company. We found out the supervisor is married to the "office manager." They run the business out of their home. The supervisor is the brother-in-law of the technician. The supervisor's in-laws own the franchise in Alabama. Based on a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau, the guarantee of satisfaction or its free is valid once the business owners determine if you will receive a refund. Once we had this information and relayed it to Safe Dry, we finally received a call back from the supervisor. After speaking with the supervisor, he was professional and agreed to charge us $0.00 for services.
.
Basically, you should inform yourself. Ask what "standard size room" dimensions are. Ask about extra charges for "deep cleaning." If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Get every quote in writing BEFORE they start working. Carpet cleaning companies are notorious for bait and switch schemes. There have been reports of them around the Nashville area. Consider paying the amount reputable companies charge who have great ratings with the BBB. It will be worth the time and money
