When I got home I noticed right away that the power jack was still a problem. I decided to put off the expense because the holidays were approaching. Besides the laptop still worked, I just needed to rotate the power cord untiil I found a good connection. Over the next couple months the power cord became worse. Now I had to place something (usually a remote) under the power cord to hold it in place for a good connection. Eventually, it just wouldn't charge.
I took my laptop back to J Dexter 3 weeks ago. When I dropped it off his assistant asked me if I knew the cost. I told him that I assumed it would be the same price as he quoted me a few months ago. I received my paperwork and left. One week later, I had not heard from him so decided to stop by (his shop is very accessible if you are in the Sam Ridley area). I spoke with the same assistant and he told me that someone had been sick in the shop and the owner had been on vacation. I left without issue. The second week came and I again stopped by. My computer was "on his bench" The third week came and I stopped by again. Please keep in mind, I had yet to be called with a quote, a plan of action, or even a "hey sorry its been 3 weeks but were working on it" phone call. I was informed that the power jack that was ordered/shipped was the wrong piece/part. I then asked if I could just have my computer back. He did offer an apology at this point and went to the back for my computer. When he returned I said I would have been fine with you having my computer for as long as you needed it if someone would have just communicated with me. His response was handing me my computer and wishing me a good weekend.
