Deck or Porch - Repair
Randall was friendly and seemed knowledgeable, he said he was licensed and bonded, though never produced the documents. We explained the project and came to an agreed-upon amount of $3,158.00. This price would include special bolts for the posts to be secured through the base beams and fascia for strength. Randall would use the trex we had on hand. The corners were to be metered to original trex already installed. The fascia was to be attached with Fascia screws and counter sunk so we could attach plugs for smooth appearance. Right away we ran into issues with Randall arriving when he said he would and when he started he clearly had trouble with figuring out how to get materials, and the basic layout and installation. He had to redo a few areas because the railing was not level. The posts were cut unevenly so we could no longer add the lighted post tops we wanted. We eventually agreed upon adding a 2x6 top rail that we could paint. Randall continually made excuses for not showing up (weather, short on gas, had another job etc.... the whole project that was supposed to take a few days acok two weeks. He had different helpers come with him including a girlfriend and often worked until it was dark. We gave him an extra $200 to help with gas and extra materials needed because he ruined some lumber. We made note that a worker sent to do his work didn't finish properly. Here were the issues that he agreed to fix but never showed up. He is currently no longer responding. 1. small area on left side of deck railing that was added because the gap was too large needs to be leveled up and secured and the wood and hog fencing is just crammed in there and not secured. 2. The top rail in this area is not secured flat, there is a big gap between the 2x4 and the 2 x 6. 3. Two lag bolts that secure the railing to the deck beams are not secured through the beam and as a result, the railing is loose. 4. The trex floor board was not metered and it looks terrible. 5. The fascia was not counter-sunk. 6. One fasica board was cut too short so we have seam where he pieced it together. 7. Areas where they added wood putty to cover gaps is cracking because the gap is too large for putty. 8. at least two sections have black tracks that are too short and there are gaps. I am now realizing he should have planned out the layout before cutting the material. He frequently had to make small adjustments because he would cut material wrong, or too short. This was a disaster.

Randall Carlson was advised to cooperate with PayPal to settle this matter. He did nothing. He has those funds as verified by PayPal and Snychrony Bank. This is thief to say the least.
