Rojas Painting & Staining

We hired Rojas mainly for cabin staining and related repairs. As in regular painting, stain preparation work is 80% of the job. Anyone can apply stain to a brand new log home. Thus, proper washing, sanding and caulking is essential prior to applying stain to an established home. Unfortunately, in our case, spending over 6 thousand dollars for restaining our porch (spindles and railings mainly) and wood furniture only got us surface staining without any caulking and little evidence of prior sanding. Some areas still had bare wood. We were devastated because in his personal communication and web site he made such convincing claims that he wouldn't do a job unless he could stand behind the quality. When we pointed out photographic evidence of the above, he got defensive and demanded final payment. I will note that he also did some associated small repairs on the exterior of our cabin and those were much better quality (B+). So if you just need some small exterior handyman type things done for your log home, I think he is fine. But I would stay away from his company for painting or staining because it is clear his guys aren't properly trained for such work and Mr. Rojas does not inspect the job critically afterward (for brand new wood that only needs staining I am guessing his guys would be OK).
