This man is a roofer who works for a company in Rockford, TN. I hired them to put on my new roof after the 2011 hail storm and then it failed and leaked into my house. His boss sent him to my house to fix the problems. When he came back he solicited me for extra work on the side. He assured me he knew carpentry, guttering, fencing, painting and general construction so I hired him to do some work on the weekends. He told me he had quit his job with the roofers. He stated he was now self employed and asked me to refer him to my friends for handyman and roofing work.
Believing he had quit his roofing job to start a handyman company, I hired him to repair a fence and build a screen porch. His price was reasonable and eventually I saw that his workmanship was sloppy and I did not get what I paid for! Nothing is plumb on the porch and the screen door will not shut. There are cracks in the ceiling where he did not butt the plywood together or caulk it properly. He ruined many of my materials making wrong cuts after measuring wrong! I ended up having to pay much more in materials because of his mistakes and sloppiness!
He said the job would take 2-3 weeks and then he drug the work out for 2 months. He was not dependable or punctual. His wife called him many times interrupting his work and someone was always dropping him off because he told me he could not drive due to problems with the authorities and child support for 8 children. He showed up at my house with liquor on his breath several times and I caught him and someone he brought with him drinking hard liquor out of their car in my drive way while working on the screen porch. I tired to find someone else to finish the job so I could fire him but no one wanted to step in and work on such a mess so I was stuck with him. I also found out he had lied about quitting his roofing job...he never did. It was just a scam to get work from Jones Roofing's clients. Beware.... He is not licensed, bonded or insured... and based on my experience not trustworthy, dependable or honest.
