Paul and his crew were amazing. We needed to be in our house in less than six weeks. All our other quotes were twice as much and we were told it would take three months to do the work. We really did not believe Paul when he said he could get it done. We need cabinets for our kitchen and Paul sent us to SHAE DESIGNS to get our cabinets. We could not believe the price they gave us. Our cabinets cost 30 percent less than everyone else in town. (this allowed us to get more done on the house). We also wanted someone we could trust in our home with our children. The guys did a marvelous job and fixed anything we needed changed. They put up with my perfectionist wife and even made her happy. We will use them for everything in the future and have had several friends already have them remodel their homes with great experiences. The guys worked weekends to make our dead line. We were in our home 2 days before expected. DON'T USE ANYONE ELSE!!!!!!

I recently finished a substantial remodel project on an older home in which Paul Fritts was the primary subcontractor working with Kear Contracting.  The undertaking lasted an entire six weeks and involved extensive work to the bathrooms, kitchen, living area, and laundry room.  As such, I feel rather qualified for evaluating Mr. Fritts?s work.  The review below only includes the work done directly by Paul Fritts and his crew.
Mr. Fritts is a professional in every sense of the word.  During the project, Mr. Fritts was at the job site and started the project when promised.  Mr. Fritts took my evening calls as late as ten o?clock.  Many times he would meet me after working hours.  My not living in the house during the construction did not hinder our communication.  Mr. Fritts would call multiple times per day to keep me apprised of the work and any issues that required my attention.  His philosophy is one of keeping the client informed so he/she may take part in all aspects of the project, making it his/her own. I was never afraid to let him know when something was not exactly the way I wanted it and he never once complained about changing things to my liking. This means a lot coming from someone as persnickety as myself.
Mr. Fritts also works with a team of like-minded individuals.  His colleagues--Michael and (the other) Paul--did a brilliant job with the hardwood flooring, cabinetry, and sheetrock.  The tile work, done by Randy and Jeff, is nothing short of amazing.  His electrician, Jeremy, is informative and eager to go beyond what is expected.  And much to my surprise, everyone cleans up after himself.  At the end of each day, tools were put in order, the floors swept, and the garbage put in bags.
I realize this glowing review may border on idolizing Mr.Fritts.  Nonetheless, as I type this, it is the truth.  I am also aware things may not be what they seem. Could the pretty exterior hide shoddy work underneath?  I think after living in the house for 2 weeks now and watching the work each step of the way I can without a doubt say there is nothing that gives me that suspicion.  Our house looks amazing now thanks to this crew. It looks better than a new house.  Everyone has been floored when they walk in and see the renovations.  I will be calling on this team again for any work I may want done in the future. I know after seeing his work, Paul Fritts will continue to have a successful career.

This is the second time we've contracted Ace services and the job was done very professionally; prices were reasonable.  Paul would explain in detail costs incurred to get out job done and also put it in writing.  He would provide us with all receipts and charge us for labor and reimbursement of his costs

I look forward to knowing that in the future, I can call Paul Fritts and he will be here to work in whatever capacity we need him.  I trust him completely.

CONTRACTOR QUIT JOB AND DID NOT COMPLETE WORK!  Read details to learn more.
My wife and I chose Paul Fritts and Ace Home Improvements over other contractors due to our initial meeting with him and the fact that he has a crew of 4 at the ready, with one also being a superb painter.  We had purchased a home and wanted to perform a kitchen remodel prior to moving into the home.  As home owners, we did everything we could to have prepared everything in advance of the actual start date, but as with any project there were delays.  The initial delay was with the cabinet order.  It pushed the cabinet install 2 weeks.  This caused Paul to adjust his schedule and only allowed partial work to be performed as they waited for the cabinets.  What they did was that they went and committed to more work and left no time to come back to our job.  We had to be "fit" into their now new schedule and only got pieces or work performed.  Thus, on Oct 18th, with a promise from Paul to that they would be committing to get our kitchen completed, we moved our family into the house. Along the way there were other issues that arose with the remodel that Paul struggled to resolve on his own.  Primarily it seemed it would require more of his time and he had already committed it elsewhere.  This was unacceptable to me/wife and we began to push Paul to provide plans and timelines.  He seemed willing to push through these obstacles and work to get us into the home, while always pushing the fact that it was not his fault for the delays.  He did not seem to understand that we did not care whose fault it was, but that we wanted/needed our kitchen completed.   Not once along the way did we refuse to pay for work performed.  We paid every dime requested even for work he failed to include in his initial quote that should have been covered (putting cabinets together $500, etc).  Paul became very frustrated when he would promise someone to be on site to work and when that did not occur we pushed him for a resolution.  Paul offered us a discounted price trying to make amends and to help out since we had been having to eat out for 3 weeks.  He then proceeded to commit a resource to work only 2-3 hours in the nights to finish our job.  When this was not progressing fast enough we pushed for a better plan.  We did not scream shout or question any of there work.  We simply asked them to spend more time working on our job and keep to the timelines they outlined. Additionally, we have since found out some of the sub-par work that was performed on our site, likely due to Paul not being there to supervise or perform the work himself.
In the end, Paul called our designer and told her he quit our job and to this day has not called us to tell us or discuss the job.  Our designer had to call us and let us know he quit. TOTAL LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM! We still have tools they left on site and they have not contacted us to retrieve them.
WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THIS GUY QUITS!

We have now had to hire a new contractor to move this project forward and resolve some of the issues left by Paul's team.  The new contractor made more progress in 1.5 days of work then Ace Home Improvements made in the last 1.5 weeks they were on our job.

Response from Ace Home Improvements
"Let me start off by saying I’m truly sorry this job did not get completed. I did quit the job, however prior to quitting the job I called the designer and made sure another contractor was available. Once I knew another contractor was available I made the final decision. When I started the job I had other jobs scheduled, with all the delays and extra work it caused me to get behind schedule. I usually do only one job at a time but due to the delays I had to start another job. I did charge more to assemble the cabinets and do the extra work on the floors and sheetrock. I tried to do all the extras at my cost, I also itemized the extra work so the homeowner could see what I was charging for. I truly regret that this turned out this way. I tried to give [member name removed] a discounted price to finish the job in the evenings, but that unfortunately wasn’t going to work out either. I truly feel I made the right decision and I apologize for any inconvenience. I wish [member name removed] and his family the best I just feel that I wasn’t a good fit for the job once everything changed. Customers are very important to me; I usually leave feeling like I’ve made a new friend. I wish this could have turned out differently."

Overall, this project went very well.  Paul (the owner) was very easy to work with.  His labor pricing was significantly less than another contractor I was initially scoping out this work with and he also negotiated material price discounts on my behalf.  The deck was medium sized, done in Trex, and had custom details such as planters, benching, lighting, installation of a patio door, etc, so it was a decent sized project. There are just a couple little details remaining to finalize, but I just love it; it came out beautifully.  Any little detail I didn't like they gladly reworked until I was happy.  They even fixed items on the existing porch - that they did not build - to ensure there was a smooth flow between the porch and deck and that it would all be enjoyable in the end.
I found Ace through the recommendations of 3 other friends who had also used them and had nothing but good to report.  The crews were there when they said they would be, were efficient, super friendly, and did solid work.  They were left alone in my home on several occasions and I never had a problem or a concern.  Everything was cleaned up when they left.  I even had them come back to do some other work, such as installing cabinets in my laundry room.
I would definitely recommend Paul and Ace Home Improvements to anyone who asks.  I plan to call them back for any future home improvements I do.

Ace Home Improvements are okay. There was an issue with the tile they installed in our shower, but they're fixing it right now. They're going to re-do it. He really wants the job to be pleasing to you and he's very good at communicating to you any issues that might come up or anything that might cost you more money than what you planned on or whatever. He's very experienced and conscientious. His prices are fair.
