I have used them for 30 years. I would recommend him highly. He does good work and has reasonable prices. He does all my automotive maintenance. I will use him all the time.

I estimate that I have taken my cars to Gassaway's Automotive more than 100 times during the past 20 years. I have never beendisappointed with their work and the cost has always been reasonable-considerably less than that of a dealer or franchise auto repair shop. If they went out of business it would be one of the saddest days of my life because I've come to depend on them for honest and capable mechanic work. They are one of the few businesses deserving of a straight-A rating.
Here are some things you should know about Gassaway's if you're thinking about taking your car there for service:

You call to make an appointment and then you take your car in early in the morning and you leave it until mid to late afternoon. Arrange for someone to pick you up and bring you back later. This is true even if you are having your oil changed or your tires rotated. They open around 8 am but you can arrive early, park the car across the street or in front of the building, and push the key through the slot in the door with a note of explanation.
They end the day at 5 pm. Don't be late.
There is an office but it is not a waiting area. See above.
If they can't fix your car, they'll tell you straight up. On rare occasions it might take them a day or two to figure it out. It's unlikely that they will charge you for their diagnosis in the event they can't fix it unless you are disrespectful or make a nuisance of yourself.
They take pride in their work and because their reputation is widespread they have plenty of work to do. If you are rude they will probably not welcome you back. They will remember you and your car.
If you are a female this is one of the very best places to take your car for maintenance or repairs. They will treat you fairly and will not cheat you.
They don't work on expensive European cars, so you'll have to take your BMW, Mercedes, Peugot, Porsche or Audi elsewhere.
They don't do transmission work, air conditioner repairs, or body shop work. If you ask nicely they will probably recommend a good place to have that work done.

I have many stories about the exceptionally good work they have done for me over the years but I will recount one done for someone else that is representative of their attitude and ethics. Many years ago I worked with a young woman who was having car trouble. Her car would run a few minutes, then quit. An hour or so later it would start up and then quit again. I recommended Gassaway's, and she wisely followed my advice. After checking the car over they discovered that the cylinder head gasket was leaking oil and the oil was migrating up the plugs to the ignition wires. They suspected that the oil might be fouling the plugs and causing the problem. Because they would have to order a replacement gasket they asked her to leave the car overnight. The next day they had the problem fixed, but it turned out that it wasn't the gasket that was causing the problem. There had been water in the gas tank. So they drained the tank, separated the water from the gas, refilled the tank, and added a drying additive to the tank. They charged her for one hour of labor and the additive even though I know they spent several hours working on her car. And the gasket? Since it wasn't causing a problem they didn't replace it. And for months afterward they asked me when I was there if her car was still running okay. It was.

Good as usual . I have used Gassaway's mechanics for years. They are honest, reliable and fair in what they charge.

My experience with them went really good and it is the only place where I would like to take my car. They are honest and they don't work on things that they don't feel that is not necessary. If something is wrong with the parts they do work on and repair it for free without any charge

I spent about a little over $500. I always take all my five vehicles there. I will not take them anywhere else. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Everything turned out just fine. They're more reasonable and user-friendly than anyone else. They're nice folks and they help you figure out the right thing. I've developed a good relationship with them.

Took the truck to Gassaway's becasue I could not find the reason that it was losing brake fluid. They found and fixed the problem and performed additional maintnenance that I'd asked for. I've periodically used these guys for several years and have always been pleased with the results.

I have used this place for over 10 years and they have always gotten my car in and the work done in a decent amount of time. They gave me a heads up on their price. They did a good job on my brakes and I was satisfied with their work overall.

Gassaway Automobile & Body Shop had wonderful customer service. When I was there they made me feel at home. They repaired my car really fast. The work was awesome and the price was exactly what I had planned on it being.
