We would gladly call Mike for any other work we need in our home, and would highly recommend him to any of our friends and family.
Mike Ballone of Complete Home Services did an excellent job of remodeling my bath/shower.
Every phase of the job was professionally done. Was a little leery of his billing procedure, went with
my "
- demo the existing master bath in a 2007 house: remove plastic shower, 6' jacuzzi tub and old tile (vanity & mirror to remain)
- remove floor-to-ceiling wall between the old tub/shower
- build a knee wall to enable a 5' tub and larger shower, opening up the space
- build a bench and storage areas in the shower
- tile the floor/shower/walls
- install glass wall between the tub/shower, and glass door for the shower
- move the pocket closet back wall 2' forward to make the closet usable
- install new plumbing fixtures throughout
- install new lights/fans (five)
- install new TP holder, towel bar, grab bar, robe hooks, and towel rings
- paint the walls, ceilings and trim
We were impressed with Mike from our initial meeting. He scoped out the space and offered detailed advice on construction and design elements. Quickly provided a Very detailed estimate with clear payment terms. Mike told us he's never had a serious call-back due to quality issues; we could tell he takes a great amount of pride in his work - probably the reason for no call-backs. Mike's focus on the quality of work drove our decision, and now at project end we are happy we went with Complete Home Services.
Demolition took one day. Then there was a scope change. Mike discovered the sub-floor needed better support (in the crawl space, for the new tile) and there was a 3" PVC pipe inside the wall (for Radon removal from the crawl space) that nobody knew was there. Those changes added about a week to the project. After change decisions were made, the re-construction happened quickly. Mike was always punctual, showing up at 7:45am each day, and we established a stable work routine. When laborers or subs were needed, Mike took care of all the details with them. But, he did most of the work himself.
And, the work progressed well. Whenever there was a question, or a decision needed that involved the homeowners, Mike always asked first instead of making an assumption. We really appreciated this aspect of Mike's work. We were directly involved in the important decisions along the way, instead of walking in a couple days later and saying "why did you do it that way." Net - there was very direct and open line of communication between us throughout the project.
The pictures show the before/after views of our bathroom. The glass has not yet been installed (next Wednesday). We decided to post the pics now so you can better see the spaces. There will be a glass wall resting on the knee wall between the tub and shower, and of course a glass door in front of the shower.
This was not an easy project. The scope change was a challenge, and Mike worked through it in a very professional manner. The angles/spaces in relation to the 1' x 2' tile we chose required more cuts than would a "square" bathroom. If you closely observe the quality of tile installation, especially the walls and around the window and tub, you will get a feel for how much precision and passion Mike puts into his work. The finished product is beautiful.
Finally! +100 and we would not hesitate to hire Mike again on future projects.
Best regards,
RCB
