Very professional and extremely nice. The roof looks great and they didn't leave any nails or shingles or trash. They handled all of the insurance filing.

While the Barret  salesman and receptionist were very nice, I was disappointed in the service I received.  I was told that I would be given 24 hours notice before my roof repair started so I could take pictures down from the walls, move potted plants, etc., yet I ended up not receiving any notice.  The roof couldn't be finished in a day because not enough shingles were delivered.  After it was done, I noticed that something didn't look right, so i called the company.  Someone came out to inspect it and found that some of the shingles hadn't been nailed down.  He was great and fixed the problem.  After the roof was done, I waited weeks for the remaining repairs to be done.  I was trying to be patient since so many roofs in my area were being repaired, but I finally gave up and called to see when the work was scheduled to be done.  The manager I was referred to when I called wasn't courteous at all.  A month or so more went by before the screens were done.  The people that repaired them were also very nice, however.  I waited even longer to get my gutters repaired, but that finally happened.  While everyone at Barrett that I worked with, except the one manager, was great, I was very frustrated by the long wait and the failure of the company to communicate with me.

Barrett did put a new roof on our home, but in doing so the following things happened.  These are facts, not opinion.  The crew was lazy, and sat around for hours on our patio furniture, which they took off our deck, but did not replace when the job was done.  They promised to clean up the yard with a magnet, but did not.  We found many nails and staples in our yard and in our driveway.  Our yard and shrubbery were literally covered with black roofing paper that they tore off the old roof and dropped over the side.  On our deck, the debris was over 1' deep, and their method of clean-up was to use shovels to scoop it all up.  Unfortunately, they gouged our deck in the process.
After repeated complaints, they did send a repair man to fix most of the deck, and to pick up most of the debris in the yard.  HOWEVER, later on we discovered damage to our rain gutters and the vent pipe from our furnace.  The gutters were an additional $2000 repair bill that Barrett refused to take responsibility for.  The furnace vent pipe did not cost anything to repair, but if it had not been fixed it could have leaked carbon monoxide gas into our home.  Barrett denied knowing anything about the vent pipe, but it was attached before they replaced the roof, and unattached after.  We think it came loose from their handling of it on the roof.
Barrett has been in business since 1962; they should know what they are doing.  They may do a good job in some cases.  BUT, for us and our home, they were a terrible service contractor, and we could never recommend them to anyone for any job.

Barrett recommended and sold us these HUGE whirly vents that are "so much better than what we have". So we assumed these were the latest and greatest technology but, we should have shopped around!!
After we started the snowball effect of almost ALL of our neighbors getting new roofs, too, NO ONE else was getting the HUGE vents.  Apparently, there is a venting technology that is placed on the top of each roof line and is almost invisible and this is what the other roofing companies are installing.
Now we feel like either he had too many in stock and we were the suckers he off loaded them on - OR - they have no clue about the latest technology in roofing!!
And for the 'cherry on top', my husband got a rude and very unprofessional call from a female from Barrett who threatened to foreclose on our house if we did not send them the check from the insurance company  AFTER I offered to deliver it to their home office!  We waited (patiently) for almost 2 MONTHS for Barrett and the insurance company to get their numbers together and issue us the check and then they have the nerve to treat us like that!
When I called them back, the owner answered and confessed he has no idea what goes on - he's just the owner!  WOW!

Work completed in fairly reasonable amount of time, but quality of the work was awful.  Their warranty is useless and they are very rude and uncooperative if you have a complaint. When my roof developed a leak a few months after installation, their response was "it cannot possibly be leaking".  They wanted to charge me $400.00 just to come inspect the roof.

Job seemed ok. It was done in November. The next summer we had to have an air conditioning service come in to check our units because the top floor of the house was about 100 degrees. The maintenance person said the units were fine. He said he noticed there were a pair of wires that didn't seem to be connected to anything. Those would be the wires for the extractor fan. After paying the A/C people for checking the units, I called Barrett, who sent someone out a couple of days later and they connected the unit to a power source. During the heavy rains in 2010, we had rain coming down our chimney, apparently on the outside of the chimney. This had happened a few times during long heavy rains. Also there appeared to be new water marks on the ceiling in the bottom floor. We called a roofing contractor who came and inspected the roof. He said that the flashing was in bad shape and that we should contact the original contractor who did the roof to see if he would repair it. He said that the flashing should have been replaced when the roof was done. We contacted Barrett who came out and said that the problem was masonry in the chimney, and left pictures, but not pictures of the complete flashing. We communicated this to the other contractor, who also did masonry. He said that he would come out and take a look at the masonry. He came and took pictures. The pictures showed clearly old and torn flashing around the chimney. The pictures were provided to Barrett, who said that the other contractor must have torn the flashing. Barrett offered to fix the flashing for $ 750 when the original contract said 'Barrett agrees to ...Install new #30 lb felt, new pipe flanges, and any flashing needed chimney walls etc.' I opted for the new contractor who charged me $800 and did a fine job.

Excellent. They were very component, hard workers. It was a pleasant experience. They were willing to do all the work without any up-front payment. We are a small church and it took us almost four months to make a decision after we received estimates for a new roof for our church. The roof was in very bad condition; improper venting, two layers of heavy shingles, as well as discolored and weathered shingles. Barrett was very patient with us while we made our decision and secured funding. Thomas Coots was our representative and he was very helpful and willingly to answer all of our questions. The new roof is beautiful. Thomas inspected the job and was willingly to make improvements on a couple of areas without complaint. I highly recommend Barrett Roofing. I will use them when I need roofing needs on my own home.

Our insurance company recommended this company. They were knowledgeable and efficient, finishing the job in only 2 days. They also cleaned up after the job was done.
