I tried Southern Spray for a couple of years. After I watched some weed-like grass overtake about 40% of my front lawn, I decided it is time to switch providers. It's just not under control. I could see it from above, out a second-story window. Last year they were short-staffed (according to the technician I spoke to at my house) and a long time passed between treatments. I seem to remember the span of time was longer than the maximum time they said would pass between treatments. The administrative end was less easy to deal with than, for instance, my mosquito spray company, which is very sharp, courteous, and is very customer-focused. But it usually worked out in the end. I believe the treatments made some difference. Maybe it works better for other people's lawns. Oh well.

They are prompt and we've been happy with the 1st 2 lawn treatments we've received

The first treatment they applied (technically, their #2 treatment in their yearly rotation) did a wondrous job of getting rid of the violets in my yard. They also sprayed for grubs. They first came in late April, just a few days after I engaged them. As a result of the good and prompt work, I signed up for a pre-paid package that covered treatments #2 through #7 for the year. Treatment #3 (my second treatment) was supposed to occur in May or June, according to the schedule Southern Spray gave me. That did not happen. I emailed them in late June to check when my lawn would be treated again, as the crab grass was coming up fiercely and the violets have returned. I was told that my house was on the schedule for the next week, which was early July. That treatment did not happen. (Note that the office hours listed on Angie's List are wrong -- they close the office at 3:00). I emailed late Thursday of that week in early July when the treatment supposedly was scheduled, asking for confirmation that someone was indeed coming that week. No one responded to my email. So I called the next Monday, July 10th, about 10:15 in morning. Late afternoon, I got a call on my voicemail saying my lawn would be treated tomorrow (which will be July 11 for the May/June treatment). We shall see. It's disappointing to sign up for a package deal and not get service for close to two-and-a-half months during prime growing season (late spring/early summer). That extra time really made a difference in the proliferation of crabgrass (especially in the last two weeks). We will see how much it will be prevented this year. It's also frustrating when promises or plans aren't kept without explanation, and you have to chase people down several times; I guess it's better to hold on to your money and make them earn it one visit at at time. Supposedly they have an online system on which you can sign up for service and also view your next scheduled treatment date. That service never worked for me -- the offer code they gave me in my proposal was not recognized by their system, so I had to call to sign up for service. I told them about the problem with my code when I signed up, but my account was never fixed. After the scheduled treatment date was missed a couple months later, in frustration in light of the events I've described above, I emailed them again late last Thursday asking them again to fix my account so I could have online access. It's Monday night, July 10th and I have not been notified that they have fixed the problem. It would be great to be able to have up-to-date notice of what is going on.

I switched to Southern Spray this past year and have been very happy with them. I have used several lawn fertilization and weed control companies in the past and have always still had challenges with weeds. This is the first company who has been able to correctly control the weeds in my lawn and also do it without pointing out what needs to be done.

Thanks so much!

I don't have a standing order for them to treat, I simply call in the early spring when weeds start popping up and I'm ready for my treatment. This year (2007) Colin showed up unannounced and was out treating my yard in very early February. I told him I wanted my treatment soon, but wanted him to wait a few weeks and explained as I have every year that I only want one treatment per year. So Colin cames backout unannounced a few weeks later, but he chooses to spray the day before a forecasted heavy rain. This bothered me as the weed treatment simply washed off and I had very poor results. Their invoice states you can request a respray if you don't see results after 10-21 days. I paid for the treatment and called them up after waiting 30 days to make sure the weed treatment didn't work and asked them to respray. They wanted me to pay for another treatment because I waited more than 21 days. I told them they shouldn't have sprayed the day before rain. They refused to come back out.

I have had no problems with Southern Spray Lawn. I have had them kill weeds in my yard for the past five years. They are professional and responsive and punctual. They also have never burned up the lawn with the chemicals they use. I highly recommend them.

Southern Spray Lawn Care did a great job. They were on time and very particular to get every square inch of my yard. They took their time, so now it looks great. I love the work they do.

I am satisfied with Southern Spray Lawn Care. I continue to use them year after year because I know that they are reliable and I do not have to worry about them missing any treatments. The staff is also easy to work with.

Our lawn has an odd shape and for the first few times they came they did not treat all our lawn. After a few visits they got it right, however, and we are now very happy. Southern Spray Lawn Care does a great job on our lawn.
