I asked my homeowners' insurance agent if they had any roofers to recommend based on their experience with roof claims, figuring they would know of roofers who do quality work at a reasonable price. (This was not a storm-damage-related job.) He recommended Ron Scott at Webb Design Group, who I learned does mostly insurance and restoration jobs. He had no reviews on Angie's List, but a clean record at the Better Business Bureau. I also contacted two other companies that were highly rated on Angie's List. Of the three companies I called (including Ron), Ron was the first to call back. Another never returned my phone call, and the other gave an estimate that was $1,500+ higher than Ron's.
My old roof had developed some significant leaks that became evident with heavy summer rains. We had a vacation coming up and were nervous about possible leaks while we were gone, before a new roof could be installed. Ron put a heavy tarp over the leaky areas to tide us over.
The installation was 98% completed in one day; they had to return to finish a ridge vent over the carport. The crew was Latino with an English-fluent supervisor, and Ron came at the beginning of the day to instruct them, and at the end of the day to look it over, and was in cellphone touch with them throughout. They were polite, did neat work, and prepped well with tarps on the ground and over shrubbery to catch the mess as they stripped off the old roof and pad. which they hauled away.
The new roof looks great and has withstood many heavy rains with no leaks.
