Roy S. Jones Construction

When our house was struck by a hail storm, I called my insurance agent and he recommended Roy S. Jones construction. He said that they had always done excellent work. Roy S. Jones Construction sent out one of their contractors. They were tasked with replacing my roof, gutters, replacing facia, repairing my dormer, and painting the fence. First, they replaced the roof. This process went well, and the roofers did a great job. After the roof, there was about a three week break before they resumed work on our home. The gutters went on well and looked good. The rest of the work was sent to another subcontractor. This is when the work took a turn for the worse. The workers from this subcontractor were tasked with fixing the dormer, painting the fence, and fixing one of the columns. During this process, they did things like fix the wrong column and they improperly installed the siding on the dormer. I will say that, while I was not happy with the construction work from this subcontractor, they did paint very well and did an excellent job on my fence. While the intentions of the people at Roy S. Jones construction seemed to be quite good, the result of all their good intentions did not seem to pan out well for us. I think this was due to a lack of communication between employees of this company. I thought that when the employee handling my home told me to deal directly with one of the subcontractors that was how Roy Jones himself wanted to deal with the situation. I later found out that by listening to him I had violated my contract. In the end they tried to work this out for me by allowing me the money in the insurance settlement to have my dormer fixed by an outside source. I appreciate that they tried their best to do right by me, but I wish they had spoken in a unified voice through their employees by exercising better control of them. I would not recommend Roy S. Jones construction to a friend. However, I know people that have years of positive experience with them. If you do choose them, I imagine they will do good work for you, but be careful and make sure that they don't advise you to do things that violate your contract.
