They showed up on time, worked quickly, executed a professional job, and cleaned up after themselves. John was incredibly patient and great at explaining options and discussing future projects I have planned, including offering advice on things I could do myself to save money. Highly recommend!

In addition to the elec work, John readily offered to do a couple of and quot;handymanand quot; type jobs which saved me from having to find and hire another workman. He is professional and personable.

John was a little tough to pin down initially, but besides that everything else went great. He brought a couple assistants and knocked out the work quickly and professionally. It was a little more expensive than I expected, but I have no frame of reference so it was probably fine. I would call John again.

John did an excellent job. He accomplished several tasks in a short amount of time, each one completed satisfactorily. John was courteous and professional, and spent time explaining what he was doing as he went along. We are very pleased with the outcome and his price was quite reasonable.

The electrician obviously knew what he was doing and went about his work very professionally. I was charged the same price I was quoted over the phone, and the price seemed reasonable enough. I would certainly use this company again.

One of our multi-bulb under-cabinet light fixtures in our kitchen had stopped working. It's one of those low wattage designer types. When I first contacted John Dorn of John Dorn Electric he correctly surmised that the unit transformer might have gone bad. The problem was, as is often the case with designer fixtures, that you can't just order a replacement transformer. You have to order a whole new unit. To save us money John suggested we order the part ourselves, which saved us the cost of the traditional markup that occurs when the electrician provides the fixture. This was an expensive fixture and the markup would have been considerable. With electrical work sometimes it makes sense, for technical or safety reasons, for the electrician to provide the parts. But it impressed me that John took the opportunity to save us some money when it made sense. John and his assistant were punctual, courteous and professional. They were careful to clean up their work area before they left. I definitely plan on calling John again next time we need an electrician.

John and his coworker Rick were great to work with. The work they needed to do was explained in detail and there were no surprises. Everything was done within the expected time frame and done well. We will definitely work with John in the future and already have projects lined up.

Mr. Dorn came in and began checking the outlets starting with the one he believed to be at the end of the line. He then checked the circuit breakers and was about to go under the house when he noticed that the outlet on the front porch was a GFCI outlet and had been tripped. He reset the outlet and all the other outlets were once again working (boy did I feel stupid!) .
Mr. Dorn was very knowledgeable and answered several questions I had in regard to the overall condition of the wiring within my home. He was very methodical in diagnosing the problem which thankfully was only a tripped GFCI. Since there were no real repairs he gave me a discount on his hourly rate. I would highly recommend John Dorn Electric.

We had an electrical problem that we could not track down. We called John and he was able to come out later that same day. I showed him what I thought was the problem. He and his apprentice looked around and went in the attic to follow the wires. After some trouble shooting he was able to find and fix the problem. John and his apprentice were very friendly to us and our 4 pets. They were able to troubleshoot our problem and leave our place feee of clutter. We then talked about some future projects we want to do he gave us input and is going to give us a quote.

John was asked to find out why a dryer outlet pole was not working and fix it. Just before he arrived another outlet in the apartment blew and he was asked to fix it also. Both plugs were fixed in that visit. John noticed that the wires in the circuit panel were very, very loose and tightened them all up too and reported that. John didn't push any extra services on me but when I asked if we should check the circuit panels in the other apartments said that would be a good idea. He came another day and tightened all of the wires which apparently had not been tightened at all when installed seven years ago, he also replaced loose breakers and sanded off spray paint that was affecting the connections.

I can't say enough good things about the service and professionalism of John Dorn. We hired him to evaluate the safety of the electric wiring in our '40s-era home, of which we were already having some issues. John inspected the home, and gave us a true evaluation of the wiring without over-selling us on unnecessary upgrades. He did extensive work in our kitchen and den/office, putting in new circuits, correcting unsafe wiring work, grounding all the outlets in both rooms and replacing unsafe breakers. As he came upon potential problems or newly-noticed issues that might increase his fee, he was always certain to update us and give us the option to proceed. We had called another electric repair service out several months before John, and after explaining our issues the repair man made a hasty fix which turned out not to be a fix at all. The problem returned, causing damage to several expensive electronics. At that time, the other repair man quoted a price to add just one circuit... a quote that ended up being almost as much as John charged for doing much, much more. He does not take short-cuts, and makes sure to do the work the right way at a very fair price. He is very professional, keeping consistent work hours and always making sure to clean up at the end of every day. It is rare to find a service professional these days who doesn't leave you wondering if you've been had, but we found a trustworthy, knowledgeable, experienced, hard-working and courteous professional in John. I would recommend him to anyone needing electric work.

Responded to initial trouble call (inoperable 3 way switches) with temporary repair (got light working with one switch). Asked for bid on whole service replacement and got reasonable price. Returned in a few days to do that work. Took most of day as expected but ended with all working and correctly. Asked for bid on adding an outlet and repairing addition 3way switches. Got a good price for that work on an hourly basis. Did everything asked for that visit (new outlet, 3 replacment switches) in good time.

This guy is the most honest contractor I have ever met. A previous contractor said he had pulled the permit for the shed. When I contracted with John Dorn for the electrical work, I made it clear I wanted permits pulled for his work. He let me know that when he went to pull his eletrical permit, there had been no building permit filed. I had to have the interior walls removed so that I could get a building permit and pass inspection. I would have never known the original building permit had not been filed had John Dorn not done what he was supposed to do and pulled permits for his electrical work. He was patient and worked with me as I had the problem corrected.
