I've had pretty good experience about Hillsboro Animal Hospital. I'd give them A's on how they treat animals and how they have treated me and the kindness that they've showed me.

I love this vet office. They are always kind and easy to work with. I am a human medical professional and they care for me and my cats in the way I always try to care for my patients and their families.

They have been very caring. The office staff is very nice and helpful. They do sell some products that are good like the flea stuff that I can't get in the regular stores. They do send reminder post cards when it is time to bring them for annual visits and shots.

Vet office only cares about money. We moved from another state and the office wanted to charge us for a full office visit every time we needed an injection, even just a Bordetella. I have been to a dozen vets in my life and I have never heard of such an unfair , money grubbing office policy. The techs give shots anyway at most vets so no reason to charge for a full office visit. Even if doctor gives shot, all other vets take dogs in back and give them an injection. No need for a full office visit. Under this crazy policy, my dog would have to have three physical exams in five months....they really only care about money.
Response from Hillsboro Animal Hospital
"We apologize for any miscommunication on this event that occurred on Sept. 24, 2011. While we have since revised our vaccination protocol, we still only charged you a Bordetella vaccine which totaled $17.00. We always want to make sure pets are healthy before a vaccine is given but we have revised our policy to allow for Bordetella vaccines to be given without an exam as long as we have seen them in the past 6 months. This is to ensure all of our patients' well-being. Again, we apologize and hope all is well with your pet."

I was taking our cat for his routine check up and shots. Since he has FIV, we try to be sure to take him in once a year to get checked out. The vet was great. After our appointment, they showed us around the entire facility so we could see everything that goes on. They made me feel like they really cared for my pet, unlike the place we used before we moved to Nashville.

Overall they are above average. Their price is a bit high but they give excellent quality service.

They have been in business for 40 years and they are excellent. Their prices are comparable with others and right in line.

Dr. Chip Rogers is the best! He's very kind, and explains things well and logically, and has a great intuitive sense about what is really important and what the underlying causes of conditions might be. The other vets on staff there are decent, too, although I haven't quite gotten the sense from the others that they are as personable and understanding as Dr. Rogers, or that they have the innate talent with animals that he does. The vet techs vary in personality and competence... I've had some that were great and really nice and knowledgeable, and I've had others that wern't as easy to deal with, or seemed not to have good sense with my animals. But the vet techs come and go over the years... I seem to get a diffent one every time I go there, and usually they're ok. One of the main reasons I continue to take my dogs to Hillsboro Animal Hospital is that they have very comprehensive in-house services, including testing and diagnostic capabilities, as well as surgery and treatment capabilities. I often can get test results back in very short times (while I wait, or later that day), whereas in other vet clinics, they often have to send out testing to an independent lab, which makes diagnoses take a lot longer. When your pet is sick and you need answers quickly, this makes a HUGE difference, and having the right surgery and other equipment available all under one roof is really helpful. And because there are many veterinarians on staff at Hillsboro, they can consult with each other and make competent decisions on what to do with complicated surgeries or treatments. So I've generally always felt that I get very competent, up-to-date advice and decisions from the clinic in general, and from Dr. Rogers in particular.

It went fine until my dog got too sick and could no longer continue. We will return to this vet practice when we get a new dog.

I see Dr. Stephen Ladd at the Hillsboro Animal Hospital. I can really tell that Dr. Ladd is a dog lover. My dog doesn’t realize that he is getting a shot when he is with Dr. Ladd. That’s kind of important to me. Dr. Ladd looks after cats too but I think that cats are a little different; they don’t want to go to vets no matter what. They will also house or board dogs at Hillsboro Animal Hospital even if the animal has a seizure which is kind of hard to find with another hospital. So we board the dogs of our family there, especially the ones that have seizures. I don’t remember how much I paid for the last service. However I think that they wouldn’t be the cheapest. I go there for the quality of the care they provide. Dr. Ladd has been really good about returning our phone calls. He has checked on our dogs when they have been sick.

Dr. Ladd is great. I like him because he listens to me and does not rush me. He is pleasant. He greets me right away. I have not compared his rates to others, but I think they are fair.
