Beware for yours and your family's safety! Our 22-year-old daughter took her car to Crown Ford for routine maintenance (oil change/tire rotation, picked up 8/4/14), and 12 days later on 8/16/14, her brakes went out due to the brake fluid being contaminated with another fluid. She had noticed shortly after picking it up that the brakes seemed less responsive and, while driving downtown, they completely gave out on her. Thankfully, she thought quickly enough to pull up the emergency brake and avoid serious danger. At that time, she had no idea what was going on, but after immediately returning it to Crown, they said the brake fluid had been contaminated by another fluid, and her car would require replacement of the whole braking system at a cost of $2,557.12! Flushing the system was not an option because they weren't sure what was in there and, for safety reasons, everything had to be replaced--master cylinder, rear wheel cylinder, calipers, control module, hoses. I called the service department because NO ONE had lifted the hood of that car other than certified Ford dealerships. It is a used car--2012 Ford Fiesta with less than 30k miles--that was purchased at a Ford dealership near our home, Vic Bailey Ford in Spartanburg, SC, only a few months ago in May 2014, after going through their complete service check. Our daughter recently moved to Nashville, so when it came time for her first oil change and tire rotation, she took it to Crown. She had absolutely no problems until then. It is still under warranty, but this will not be covered because it's not a manufacture's defect. Our insurance company will not cover it unless it is obvious vandalism, which it is not. I told Crown's service department manger, Rob, the contamination had to have taken place at their shop. He said he understood my frustration and knew that, if he were me, how this would look, but Crown could not take responsibility for it. After making numerous calls to other Ford dealerships, including where it was purchase in SC, and our local dealership, Stott's Ford in Tryon, NC, that is owned by friends, we had it towed to another Nashville Ford dealership, Two Rivers Ford, for a second opinion. They agreed that the brake system will need to be replaced, but gave a much lower price of $1,8250.02 plus a free rental car. All of the other dealerships--Two Rivers Ford (TN), Vic Bailey Ford (SC), Stott's Ford (NC)--agreed that this was a "fishy" situation. Even if Crown, for legal reasons, didn't want to own up to the contamination, they cold have at least said, "Hey, we aren't taking responsibility for this, but under these circumstance, we want to make sure your daughter is well taken care of." They could have offered to make the repairs at their shop for free and absorb the costs themselves, or at least charged a very minimum for parts only. There are many things they could have done to help with this but instead, they quoted a very high repair cost, and told us they couldn't offer her a loaner car while they looked at it. She had to scramble to find a ride back and forth to her job. The only recourse we have is to at least let the public know to stay away! Even if you purchase a car from them, you'll likely, at some point, need it serviced there, so don't do ANY business with them, for your own safety! I'm including my work number and will be glad to validate that what I've written here is true. The number is (864) 457-4544, and I am Terri, the Office Manager.

I tried calling other mechanics closer to home, but they did not service this problem on my Lincoln. Therefore the closest Lincoln deal was in Madison. Because I had to leave my car there overnight, I had to get a rental. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant. There was practically no waiting other than for the rental car off site as there were others in front of me. The car is working fine now. Everything went smoothly. The cost was expensive for me as my company downsized and I am only working 16 hours a week.

They were very prompt and they picked up the car at my house. Overall they provided an excellent service. I would highly recommend them.

My Mercury Grand Marquis had developed significant brake pedal and sterring wheel vibration when applying brakes. The front brake pads needed replacement and the brake rotor, which had been turned from previous brake services, could not be turned again. The rear brakes are still serviceable. The front brakes and rotors were replaced while I waited (less than 2 hours). The customer waiting area is very modern with big screen TV and complimentary bottle water and snacks.
Response from Crown Ford

I do not like them. I won't go there ever again. They are rude and disrespectful. They talked to my wife like she was stupid.

I was very worried when the transmission in my 2008 F-150 was beginning to slip. I knew we had purchased an extended warranty for the vehicle but didn't remember to exactly what mileage. The service manage was able to tell me what my warranty mileage was and luckily I was just within the warranty range on mileage by about 1800 miles. They said that the transmission dept is always backed up and that it would take a few days before they would be able to tell me whats wrong with the vehicle. :( They also said that an inspector from Ford would have to determine if the work would actually fall under warranty. :( :( Needless to say, I was not very happy at this point and I was expecting to be royally worked over. Having had work done at dealerships before I know the cost always seems astronomical. So after a 5 days I finally get an answer on what the problem is. The blah, blah, blah in the transmission has gone bad and they are waiting to determine whether the transmission will be repaired or replaced. Some good news at this point came through. They said it would be covered under warranty and they offered me a loaner vehicle while the repairs were being done. When I went to pick up the loaner vehicle ('11 Ford Escape- that smelled like someone had been smoking in) I had to sign a rental agreement.. :( When I asked about the cost they said they would eat the cost on the rental. :) :) After a week they called me and said that a technician had noticed a leak in the rear end and wanted to know if I wanted them to take a look at it. They said it would be covered under the warranty. My response.. OF COURSE. :) So approximately 2.5 weeks after I take my truck in, the work is done. $3700 of warranty work is done and I pay my $100 warranty deductible and I leave happy.

I am self-employed and the vehicle is vital to my business. During all four service experiences, Crown Ford demonstrated no concern or respect for getting my van serviced quickly, correctly, or with reasonable costs. The only reason I went to Crown even after the first lousy experience is because my van is a mobile dog grooming salon conversion and is too tall for most auto repair garages to work on.
The first time I went to Crown Ford, my van was still under warranty, the headlights were too high and other drivers where flashing their brights at me whenever I had my lights on regular -- not high beam. The service rep at Crown told me that the headlights were not too high according to Ford's standards, but he could lower them if I wanted it done. The rep said nothing about a charge for this service and since I had only had the van for two weeks, I expected the service to be free. I was presented with a bill for over $200 for the service and no apology for the lack of communication up front about the charge. The charge was "implied" when the rep told me the headlights were still ok according to Ford's standards.
My second and third experience resulted in the same lousy customer experience, which I will outline below once, but it happened twice:
I will NEVER use Crown Ford again. When it is time to purchase another dog grooming vehicle, I will buy another manufacturer so I am not a prisoner to Crown Ford. The other Ford dealership in the area isn't a viable option for me as it is very far from where I live and my friend with a Ford SUV has had similar poor customer service at that location. (I know this last sentence includes second-hand information, but I hope Angie's List will still post the rest of this review.)

- Job: routine rotation and balancing of tires.
- Took a long time to get appointment. Took a long time to get service completed.
- Dealership never called me to give updates on delay or when service would be completed. I had to repeatedly call them myself to find out when I would be able to get back to work.
- Within 24 hours of the tire service, the "tire pressure" service light came on. When I called Ford,
- Again, it took a long time to get appointment. Took a long time to get service completed. Never called me to give updates on delay or when service would be completed. Had to repeatedly call them myself to find out when I would be able to get back to work.
- When finally got van back both times, I was told the tire pressure was fine, but there was something wrong with the service light. Again, no apologies for wasting my time, nor did they permanently fix the issue with the service light because it happened all three times I had the tires rotated and balanced at Crown Ford.

When I bought my car I got the sense the guys weren't doing "hard sell"....they really answered my questions on what was at that time sort of an unusual vehicle. The best part about Ford, though, is you literally don't have to schedule an oil change - just show up. If you do need work done, you can expect it in a reasonable amount of time for a fair price. Seriously, I can't say enough about this place.

Crown Ford did a wonderful job. They cleaned my car for me at no extra charge. I was very pleased with their services. I would hire them again.
