My daughter joined Angie's List in Tennessee and had me contact several local fence vendors to install a 4ft wooden fence with two gates in her backyard.  The purpose of the fence was to allow her to let her two dogs (one medium size and one very small) loose in the backyard.  After reviewing various vendors on Angie's List, I called several in the Nashville area to come and give me an estimate.  I told each vendor that I was only in town for a few days (Thursday - Monday)  and needed the fence built as soon as possible with two gates. Bryan, the owner of Bryan's fence, immediately called me back on Thursday and came out to east Nashville.  We had laid out some string showing the perimeter of the fence and Bryan measured it.  He made some great recommendations about changing the size of the fence to be more practical in terms of gate placements.  For a 140 Ft fence with two gates plus hardware, he gave us a quote of $2,500.  However, he also gave me a military discount reducing the price to $2.450. Bryan told me he could start building the fence the next day on Friday.  He e-mailed us a few styles of wood fences for our review so we could see what the finished fence would look like.  The other four vendors I contacted either could not build the fence within the next few days or did not get back to me quickly enough.  However, in searching other fence reviews, I found Bryan's price for labor and materials to be comparable with the others so my daughter selected his company.  On Friday, Bryan arrived at 8:30 a.m. with two workers and some heavy augur/rock drilling equipment.  Within a few hours, they had installed all of the posts and cemented them in.  On Monday, despite some delay due to the rain, Bryan returned with his crew and finished the job in a few hours.  His crew was very professional, carefully measuring distances for the fence, routing the top of each post and ensuring that the fence gates were installed properly.  On a personal note, I found Bryan to be friendly and honest about his evaluation on the time and costs involved.  He was even kind enough to use his truck to help me pick up some lumber I needed at a local Home Depot at my request and to lend me a hammer screwdriver to drill some holes in concrete. I hope those of you who read this will find this evaluation useful.
