Todd took care of everything.  He worked with us on changes we wanted to make and was very responsive and helpful.  This was an awful time for us.  We had lots of damage and only a few livable rooms in our home, but Todd got us fixed up quickly.

Did not show up when appointed. Over 5 hours late next scheduled appointed.   Used 2 different types and shades of paint to paint one door inside.  Spilt paint water on carpet.  Still evident several months later.  Roof was okay upon completion, but for renovation services, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.  Workers are careless, sloppy, unreliable, and do not know what they are doing.  Had to request another team, that was OKAY, but not excellent.
Have used BKA before for roofing and they were superb.  Their company has completely gone down hill.

We have used BKA in the past and have been very pleased.  Due to the warranty on the roof, and their association with insurance, we used them again.  It was a nightmare.  After arranging my work schedule for them to come, they did not come the whole day to repair and paint. I have no idea about the cause of the issue, but I did hear how busy they were.  After rescheduling a week later, and taking MORE time off, they were to come at 8.  I received a call they were coming later.  When they showed up, the could not even do half of the work.  We had to reschedule another day, and there were stains and dark spots on the interior water damage.  There was paint water splashed on our carpet in two rooms, and they used a statin and a flat on the same door in two different areas.  It was ridiculous!!  I will give them this, they were responsive this time to my complaint and offered a different "team" to come and fix what the other team had done.   The second team did a nice job.   When I was ready to pay, and complete the nightmare, the "project manager" was not available.  He never came to see the final outcome of the total project.  An office manager in the area came by and picked up the check.

One of the worst transactions I have ever had.  Plus missing vacation days with "NO SHOWs."

Initially I was very impressed with BKA. Within an hour of contacting my insurance company concerning the damage BKA had a water mitigation crew at my house.  The technicians were professional and efficient.  They removed approximately 10 square feet of hardwood floor, some installation from the crawl space and dehumidified the space under the cabinets.

Water mitigation was complete within 72 hours and that is where my problems began.

BKA assigned a project manager to ensure a smooth restoration.  I met with the project manager during the first week of December.  We discussed the repairs and the time it would take to make those repairs.  He assured me then that they would be finished no later than 24 December.  He referred me to a wholesale floor company to select the tile that we wanted installed. This was complete Friday 13 December.

There was no movement on my repair even though I contacted my project manager several times. Finally all was set to begin Monday 6 Jan at 9:00 am.  I called and texted my project manager several times that morning to ensure that the workers would actually show.  I texted him at 8:35 and his reply at 8:55 was "they should be there any minute".  At 1:30 when no one showed up he finally answered his cell phone and said "well I guess they are not coming today".

The tile was never ordered and the job that should have take two weeks has taken two months.

The only good that has come from this is the sub-sub-contractor that BKA hired is amazing. Donne, owner and operator of Gateway Restoration, is great. He has gone far above and beyond the scope of work to ensure that I did not fire BKA last week.  I would never hire BKA but I plan on hiring Gateway Restoration for several home improvement projects that I have planned later in the year.

They started off the project well. They work with insurance companies primarily. Our project manager was very polite and professional. The job was scheduled to be completed in a week. For a variety of reasons the project took three weeks to complete. It was very disruptive to our home life. There was a day or so when crews didnt show up which slowed the process. Overall, they did a good job2c but I had to stay after them to complete the job.

The bathroom tiles started coming up in may on 2013. I contacted BKA , they have sent 3 people out here making promises to redo the floor. Today is September 25th 2013 and I'm still waiting on them to come redo my bathroom floor. The company changed management around the time I initially contacted them about the tiles coming up. At that time all the people who did my remodel were still there, now all of them are gone and these new people suck. I've just sent them the official letter letting them know legal action is in the future if they don't get my bathroom done ASAP... I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can get this resolved.

They were pretty good.  It was covered under insurance.  They are a big contraction company.  They hire contractors underneath them.  The contractors that they hired for us, we noticed a few things that had been overlooked.  He was very fast to send people back over to rectify anything that we noticed.  Even though the job was done, he was good about coming back to fix anything that needed to be fixed, so we really appreciate that.  The price seemed fair.  As long as there is no leak, we'll be happy.

We felt the initial charge of $250 for immediate response was high but they were able to cover the affected areas with tarp that evening preventing rain damage.  The missing shingles and fascia board were subsequently repaired.  Although the new chimney top was too large this was not the fault of BKA but rather the chimney fabricator.  In the meantime, further storms tore at the chimney tarp requiring us to call BKA to redo the temporary protection.  They responded immediately without further charge.  The second chimney top fit correctly.  We are pleased with BKA's responsiveness and their clear desire to provide good customer service.  We would call them again.

They were very good and they did good work. I would highly recommend them. They were very thorough and they did whatever they said they would do. They did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves and they were very courteous. They came out on time and they responded to everything.

For the fans and dehumidifiers to work their electrician had to come and put in a larger circuit breaker. After the circuit breaker and electrical issues were corrected, employees failed to turn reset half of the fans and three quarters of the dehumidifiers that had turned off due to the fuses blowing. Two days later I went back to the house and saw they were off and turned them back on. I called the company to tell them this. They said this was no big deal and that they would leave them on longer then four days to make up the difference. Two days later everything was gone. We then got a bill for 11,000 dollars. Their bill had many discrepencies including a miscalculation of the square footage, the items demolished, as well as charging us for four days of drying out when the machies were only on two. I sent them a letter explaining the situation and asking them to recalculate the bill. They told me that I was wrong and if I did not pay the bill in full I would face legal action. There was no phone call or explanation. I found this highly irregular and insulting. I then had to hire another company to come out and do the whole process again as there was significant mold growth within the interior walls and in the crawlspace. The company that came out as well as our contractor told us that they did not think the second dry out would have been necessary if BKA did what they said. The difference from what I paid to what the company thought we owed was over $1600. I ended up paying it because it would have been more expensive to face legal action. This was obviously not a good experince and I would not recommend this company to anyone. They came out promptly and did the work but beyond that I believe they are very unethical. I do not say this lightly and I would not make the charge if I did not experience it for myself.

They were extremely difficult to deal with. They did not talk to me only to their office, or the insurance agency. They left the equipment sitting in the house with no monitoring of its effectiveness. They did enough to be paid almost $4,000 without taking care of the problem. I would not recommend them.
Response from BKA General Contractors
"PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS OF MY COMPANY WHEN CONSIDERING THIS PARTICULAR REPORT. OUR SERVICES ON THIS LOSS CONSISTED ONLY OF MITIGATION WORK TO REMOVE WATER SOAKED MATERIALS IN AFFECTED ROOMS AND TO SET DRYING EQUIPMENT IN PLACE. THE HOMEOWNER SIGNED AN AUTHORIZATION FOR THIS WORK PRIOR TO ANYTHING BEING DONE WITH THE CLEAR AND WRITTEN UNDERSTANDING THAT WE WERE WORKING FOR HER AND NO ONE ELSE. PRICING IS SET BY THE INSURANCE PROVIDER, NOT BY OUR COMPANY AND WE WERE PAID THE INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR SERVICES RENDERED. THE HOMEOWNER MAKES NUMEROUS FALSE STATEMENTS IN HER REPORT. WE RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY UPON BEING CALLED AND WORK WAS UNDERWAY AT THE MOMENT THE AUTHORIZATION WAS SIGNED BY THE CUSTOMER. THE CONTINUOUS REFERENCES TO "NOT COMMUNICATING" AND "NOT SOLVING HER PROBLEM" REFLECT HER INSISTENCE THAT WE TEAR OUT UNDAMAGED FINISHES IN HER HOUSE PRIOR TO THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO AN INSPECTION. THE CUSTOMER WANTED THESE MATERIALS REMOVED SO THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THEM EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE NOT DAMAGED. BASICALLY WE WERE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN INSURANCE FRAUD AND REFUSED. WHEN THE CUSTOMER THEN DID NOT GET EVERYTHING SHE WANTED, IT WAS HER INTENT TO DO AS MUCH HARM TO EVERYONE INVOLVED AS POSSIBLE. SHE IS CORRECT THAT WE "DID NOT LISTEN" TO DEMANDS THAT WE BE CROOKED. WE DON'T DO BUSINESS THAT WAY."

They came out when they said they would, which was right away and I thought that they were really good. The main person handling everything was very professional and paid attention to detail very well. I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and I didn't have to watch over them working all the time.
